I’d be shocked if they didn’t. Even if he does win they’ll still start those narratives.

Don’t worry about any of that. People will put lebron down no matter what. Just enjoy him and his success.

True. It gets annoying sometimes but I will deal with it and I think I’ve been fortunate to be able to watch his career play out.

Like that Lebron gets to repay Iguodala with an L. Enjoyed their defensive battle the last couple finals and this time Iggy gets to be the one in the hopeless situation. Yeah he's washed but he's only a year older than Lebron

Maybe next year Kawhi's turn to get the L

I think as long as he has the requisite stats, that narrative won’t be too powerful, i.e., 30 PER, +10 BPM, .270 WS/48, leading PIPM, etc.

I agree and I’d be totally surprised if his stats don’t end up as good or better than AD’s.

Fact of the matter is Lebron doesn't deserve FMVP if he's playing quarters lightly while AD lights opponents all game. Zero reason he can't do what AD is doing to this Heat team. If he chooses not to impose himself all game then has himself to blame when AD gets a well deserved FMVP

He played the first quarter of Game 1 like a feel out and let them up 15 before even looking at the basket. What's there to feel out when the sweep is there if you want it

Something, I guess, "underrated", about LeBron is the fact that he has faced some of the toughest defensive competition at his position ever. I think the only thing comparable was the era of GOAT defensive centers in the 90s. If you look at the top 10 defenders at each position project, LeBron shared his prime with SEVEN of the other nine defenders in the SF list (not including LeBron who made the list), as well as some other elite defenders. He's faced an ATG SF defender almost every single postseason of his prime.

2009: No one really
2010: Deng
2011: Iggy, then Deng -> Marion
2012: PG
2013: Butler -> PG -> Kawhi
2014: PG -> Kawhi
2015: Butler, later Iggy
2016: Iggy
2017: PG, old man Iggy a little, maybe Draymond
2018: whoever was guarding him on the Warriors lol

Jordan played in his prime with 2 others on the SG list. Kareem also 2. 90s had Hakeem/Robinson/Mutombo/Ewing.

What were the toughest guys MJ went through in the 90s?

Not many

I'd think the Heat are gonna be bombing away from deep. Catching fire from deep surely is their best chance to somehow steal this one. Lakers need to stay home on shooters more than ever.

Dwight by far the best player so far. Rip through move at the 3 point line, who the **** does he think he is, Durant? And that high post pass to a cutting Kuzma left my jaw agape

Links?

I don't go there much so the only one I recall was when Bron said I could score 50, 60 if I took that many shots (referring to some "pedestrian" Melo high scoring performance).

And he **** did it, some poster embarrassed some godawful misguided Melo fan

Holy ****, what a blast from the past. I can't actually think of a time when Haberstroh and Arnovitz were new and not well established guys

I remember Haberstroh from even before that. 08-10 before Heat Index he wrote articlesfor Hoopdata.com. It was the only place online where you could get PbP-based shooting breakdowns(at rim, 3-10 ft, 10-16, etc.). Used to update every other day and I'd go and check on updated shooting stats.

Years later BBR & NBA.com eventually added all of this of course, but back then it was hoopdata exclusive.

They also tracked 3pt assists and broke down all data into monthly splits (including +/- and the shooting splits).

Didn't know this. Didn't know there was some zonalmarking equivalent for basketball that provided high level analysis and stuff, plus I was a degenerate Kobe fan (so basically a neandarthal) then who wanted him to win a ring because people were being silly about saying he couldn't win one without Shaq
