It's not.

Here we know better than to judge a career for a single series, I think.
And mainstream media and more casual fans are not going to change their opinions a bit lol, Durant is their darling.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

If he continues to play this badly and they lose in 5 or get swept, it'll be a giant black on his career.

His entire career won't be judged by this series, but you know it'd be a giant stain on his legacy if he continues his poor play.

Just starting the second half and Durant has five field goal attempts.

I don't think it should be if he was evaluated more accurately. As great a scorer as he is, he's not a great offensive engine. But when he can play off the creation of someone else, he's one of the best players ever.

Defensively, I never thought what he did was ever particularly noteworthy.

This reminds me of the Bulls/Heat in 2006 and 2007. One team dominated the first year and the next year the other team dominated.

Brooklyn did this on purpose to restore Ben Simmons reputation. Now that Ben Simmons is coming back for Game 4 the Nets will win 4 straight. :D

No b/c Jays were bad offensively most of the game too until Jaylens 4th quarter explosion. We have a far better coaching staff, make adjustments, chemistry, and heart. There's a reason 7/8 seed will never win **** you need to build continuity if you have injury issues can't just scrap up a rotation in the last 15 games and think you're gonna beat a well oiled TEAM like us.

If anything this should be extremely worrying for Brooklyn b/c their role players played extremely well and they still choked and lost. Role players RARELY play as well as they did in a road game like that. They're not getting a road performance from their role players like that again where Goran, Seth and Brown couldn't miss a shot and we already know Kd can't dribble the ball against us or get to his spots and Kyrie was great game 1 but he isn't shooting like that again

Game consistency possesion by possesion is really important as we've seen the first two games long. Nets losing their rythm too easily even in the 4Q's. In the game 1, maybe they lost totally of lacking concentration they were leading by 5 till the 2 min left.

No doubt both Kyrie and Durant choked(or struggled too much) in the 4Q. But I disagree with saying Brown,Dragic or Seth playing better than usual. They're NBA starter level of players and you're defending KD and Kyrie with almost three players, of course they do much better usual. Nets rotation are better than Celt's, maybe leave off bigs. Horford is being key factor in the series, on the both ends.

You're and many Celt fans taking too much care on 2/7 match stuff. Almost an entire decade long, Mavs-Spurs killed each other in the wild west from 2/7 match. This is the playoffs.

Have you accepted what Brooklyn is yet?

not even close. Heat & Bulls were rivals. The Heat were the defending champs, Wade wasnt 100%.
The Nets & Celtics are not rivals. Its more so Kyrie Vs Celtics for rivals.

So Westbrook plays offball all those years? He wins some championships but not a heap.

Imagine still thinking in 2022 that LeBron couldn't play off-ball during his career

this has gotta be the most disappointing series from a player of kd's caliber since lebron 2011, right?

like man this is insane. he's been awful. lost on defense, horrendous passing and careless with the ball, ridiculously passive scorer..

He's playing way worse than that, and sadly he won't be criticized half as bad.

He'll get crapped on, but Lebron in 2011 is like brought up in every discussion with him to this day - it's as common to bring it up now as it was in 2013.

The reason why it's sad is the same reason why everyone remembers, because James was in the finals. Durant is doing this in the first round.

Objectively speaking, crapping the bed in the first round is way worse than the finals, but people love romanticism. You're better off not making the playoffs than getting crapped on in the finals in the eyes of many fans.

It's way worse than 2011. At least that was in the Finals, not the first round. The Heat also didn't get swept.

This is probably the worst chokejob we've seen from a star player since some of Wilt's epic meltdowns back in the day.

His lack of playmaking has exposed his offense, a great player would do other things to help the team win but you take away KD's shots he is pretty average. They should really keep Harden who is a much better playmaker who can run the offense. Nets D also not good which makes the situation a lot worse.

another thingh is that people focus on scoring

a series where a player loses scoring a lot on points in bad efficiency has a heroic narrative of sorts

a player doing thinghs like defense and passing well but scoring very little is gonna get shredded in comparision

durant has the worst of both worlds this series, if he was taking 40 shots to score 35 points a game he would get only a fraction of the criticism and a fair amount of praise instead

Durant not getting as much blame as James just proves he's not even close to LeBron's level. James has always been held to much higher standards, for a good reason.

What were some of these Wilt's epic meltdowns? He never had as bad series as Durant has now.
