Down to 36.3 MPG for the year. Since his return from the two week break, he's at 34.5 MPG, but scoring rate very high at 28.5/36 min.
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
My main takeaway is he looks absurdly athletic during today and the allstar game.
On both ends really.
Some horrible shots were taken (3 airballs today?) but the jumpshot looked better on the balanced ones he took today.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
So since Lebron's return, Cleveland's been a 10 SRS team (+11 Offense, 0 Defense). With Irving and Love in the lineup (15 G), they've been at +11 SRS, +10.9 Offense, -1.4 Defense, boasting a 117.7 ORTG.
Controlling for Love/Irving, Cavs with Lebron have been a +6 SRS team, and -5 SRS without him.

Seriously how many games did Cleveland win by less than 10 points in those 15 games? It just seems like every time they win they crush their opponents. Every single win has been very impressive.

NBA.com has him shooting 76.8% in the restricted area in that stretch. At 69.3% for the full season.

What is the record for a complete season?
In terms of relative + offense

04 Mavericks put up a +9.2 offense for the whole season and that's the best mark through 82 games.

Nah that was the correct call imo. If it was a smaller guy it would have been a lot more clear cut.
Anyway things rolling well nicely for this team. Just need Love to find his feet on offense (that dunk attempt lol) and we're in good shape. His defense has been real impressive lately though, surprised its the same guy.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
Rewatching the game. They are ICEing a lot of side pick and rolls when Mozgov is in the game especially when non John Wall type ball handlers had the ball. Still show heavy team but definitely more elements to their pick and roll defense that Mozgov enables. For guys who are non threatening to Mozgov with a head of steam they felt very comfortable icing down and stopping players from getting the middle of the floor and showing against Wall.
Also with more like sized defenders (especially Shump) they feel much more comfortable switching down screens which helps a lot with conserving energy for Bron.
Lebron made a really nice read blitzing the pop off the ICE as the nail guy on Humphries which lead to the fast break tomahawk.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
Also this team just has insane early offense. It's so everything that analytics has preached for so long. Push the ball up the floor and attack before the defense gets set on misses and makes. Kyrie is a huge part it whether as the ball handler or streaking up the wing (Lebron really loves to lead pass up to him). Then you got animals on the glass like Tristan and Love who are hard to box out while you are trying to get back and just get so many kick outs for wide open 3's by JR, Shump etc. since the defense still isn't set once that early attack goes up and they are trying to track the rebound.
Then you have 3 allstar offensive players 2 of which are elite ISO guys and Love is an elite spot up/ very good post player if they are forced to run a set.
This team is ridiculous offensively. And while I think they can use Love a bit more in the pick and roll and posting up he's making himself very useful/valuable by just his insane outlet passing, rebounding and spot up shooting.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
Kyrie has figured out/ been coached on how to be pretty good at navigating pick and roll defense but he's still hilariously bad trying to close out and rotate. He finds himself in the air basically 100% of the time and falling for simple pass fakes. His defensive awareness and default instincts are not good. If he loses his man he defaults to lets spiderman jump at every pass and hope my teammates cover my ass instead of rotating (which Shumpert did admirably).

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
Yes its unfortunate that Lebron was playing hobbled early on, because they've been a ~118 offense with him healthier the last two months. The postseason ceiling is so high considering Lebron managed to run Miami at +9ish from 12-14 despite a lot of inconsistency from Wade and NO offensive rebounding. Prior to the Finals last year their offense was like +15 through the EC.
Cleveland still has a little room to grow and yet they're blowing the top off already. I think they could touch 120 in the postseason in spite of whatever defenses they end up facing.

Kyrie's offensive instincts have impressed me. I'm not a fan of his over-dribbling but his sense of when/how to attack in the semi-transition is remarkable, I was skeptical at the beginning of the year but nowadays it just seems like such high-level EV play to me (especially considering his finishing ability, that's some upper-body strength).

Only 2 turnovers? Is this real life?
Cavs killed it tonight! Can't stress how valuable Mozgov is to this team. +42
Probably the best game I've seen from LeBron all season all things considered. What do you guys think?

LeBron has now surpassed Kobe in total career assists. Very impressive achievement. Kobe had a 7-years head start, but I didn't expect LeBron to catch up to him this quick.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
Just got home. I'm still a bit drunk, possibly high, so bear with me.
I was at this game - finally got to see LeBron in person! Worth every cent. He seems to move even faster in person. This was a pretty important game with some serious eastern conference standings implications so I'm glad they came into town and just dismantled the Wizards. Love didn't look great but LeBron, Mozgov, and Kyrie were fantastic. I think this final stretch of the season will be excellent.
Back up to the 4th seed. DC rising? Nah, DC slipping.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
There really isn't any reason Cleveland should not to win the championship, aside from potential injuries. Excuses, yes. They have everything compared to any team in the NBA.
The only reason people are saying NEXT year instead THIS year is what happened LeBron's first year in Miami. But Pierce, KG, Allen won their first year in Boston. Kyrie and Love not having playoff experience is an excuse. Magic did what as a rookie?
