Kuzma has never shot the 3 ball well at all at any level other than his rookie year, which now looks like an aberration given his college career and the last two seasons in the NBA. He’s also a below league average FT shooter (not that it matters much beyond just being indicative of his shooting touch). With Gallo you got a guy who’s gonna shoot 40+% from three and 90% at the line, he’s a legit marksman. Kuzma is not that, to put it lightly. He can score, but his path to doing that comes largely from just going 1 on 1 and hoping he’s hot on a given night
Obviously right now Gallo is notably better on offense, because he's a more consistent shooter and more cerebral/poise offensive player in general. But my qualm was if Gallo would prove a big enough improvement on offense to warrant picking him up over just rolling with a cheaper option in Kuzma or the worse Morris twin? If Gallo could defend well it would be a no-brainer, but he can't. In fact, he's arguably worse than Kuzma and Morris in that area, and he's not better as a passer either. So why not just roll the dice on Kuzma, since it's likely Kuzma comes into next season as an improved player (his development curve is still going up, while Gallo's isn't).
If Gallo is THE big splash you want to do in the offseason if you're the Lakers, i rather just roll with Kuz/Morris again, and look to cash in most my chips on some other asset.
