I'm still at a loss, have we heard any argument for Daugherty at all? And yet he's in 2nd here. I'd definitely side with others over him if need be, but it looks like Deron has this.

I'm of course for others over Deron, such as Brand. I think though that I'm leaning with Stern for the moment:

Vote: Sharman

Nominate: Sikma

Prime Yao literally literally never had anywhere near a complete season and never won a playoff series.

I don't mean to take anything away from his capabilities here, but when you look at the overall impact of the seasons he put together, I'm inclined to favor quite a few current players over him because of the glaring health issues..

Vote Lucas
Nominate Sikma
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Don't support Deron this early but better than Daugherty; I'd have supported Sharman over him though but it would still be Deron winning and Sikma nominated.

He had more complete seasons than Bill Walton: '03, '04, '05 and '09 - WS/48 during every one of them around 0.200

and never won a playoff series.

We are at the stage of the project when superstars who won series alone are long go. Now we are choosing role players and 2nd-3rd options or leaders who never won anything. So I really don't know why you said what you just said. The fact remains - prime Yao was better player than Gilmore.

BTW, Ming's defense is really underrated.

Yao as a rookie limited Shaq in playoffs to 16.2 ppg on 51.5 FG%.

During rest of the playoffs Shaq averaged:
22.5 ppg, 63.5 FG% vs Spurs (all time great defense)
20.7 ppg, 56.9 FG% vs Wolves
and 26.6 ppg, 63.1 FG% vs Pistons (with Rasheed that was the best defensive team of all time)

100% agree. though it should be mentioned that Pistons didn't double Shaq and that's why he scored so much.

Oh and prime Yao was never as strong a rebounder, a shotblocker, as good at getting position in the low post, as good as keeping opponents from getting position in the low post, or as efficient as Gilmore.

Yao has better range and a more advanced post game as well as being taller and seemed to be a more cerebral player than Gilmore but prime Gilmore was more Dwight Howard than Yao and though Yao outplayed Dwight hth, Dwight was the better player.
