Yes, in 1970 according to Dean Oliver's estimates, the Lakers offense dropped by 3.5 points relative to league average from the previous year with Wilt missing 70 games (and Baylor missing 28). On average your estimates seemed to have Wilt's teams better defensively (notably 1966 and 1968), though Oliver seems to have them better offensively. I recall you had 1966 team defensive estimate at -3.4, quite a difference from Oliver's estimate at -0.4.

I've been meaning to ask you Dip. How would you rank Wilt's seasons amongst themselves from best to worst?

Despite what the team DRtg estimates may hint, Wilt was the top defensive big man that year. As Nate Thurmond said regarding the '72 team, "Nothing came down that lane. Nothing." Chicago Bulls Coach Motta also agreed that Wilt was the top defensive center in the league that year.

I have block numbers for just under half of the games during the 33-game win streak (48.5%) that I've shared with other researchers, and in 16 games of the streak that I have block numbers for, Wilt blocked 135 shots, an average of 8.44 a game.

I will rank the seasons in groups or tiers. But 1967 is clearly #1. I also ranked 1965 high despite an up & down regular season, since his playoffs were excellent & ElGee mentioned in the project guidelines to base the "projection on how well the player played at the END OF THE SEASON". He arguably outplayed Russell in the playoff series and lost what was basically the championship game on (again) the last possession of Game 7. And he was the one who took the game over in the 2nd half after they were down to bring them back. Chet Walker even says that Wilt "made Russell look like a college player."

And to think he was only the 3rd best defensive player of the era. I am now charting KAJ's shots from 1969-1980, but after that I am interesting in keeping track of Bill Russell & the Celtics floor defensive stats based on the (limited) game footage, much like this below.

Not a Wilt guy (much more of a Russ fan, for those familiar with my posting on ISH), but this is just what I came up with after breaking it down (my thought process is described in the project description thread). He was probably the hardest guy to do so far, but I'm pretty confident in what I came up with for him.

Oops, sorry. I did a rating for his time with the Warriors and the Sixers before and after the trade, even though the first wasn't needed here (only end of season performance). The first 1966 should be 1965, and 1965 shouldn't be there. Fixed, thanks.
