I don't hold it against Issel that he was overmatched at center because I think Issel was a power forward being forced to defend centers. McHale was a power forward forced to defend small forwards so I don't hold it against McHale if a small forward like Dominique Wilkins eventually figures out how to score well against him.

Young Chris Webber complained about Don Nelson forcing him to defend centers. I think Webber had more length than Issel and was less overmatched at center than Issel. The Webber vs Nelson problem was mostly about Nelson being disrespectful to his players. Previous Warrior Mario Elie came to Webber's defense in the Webber vs Nelson problems. Even though Nelson gave Elie his first big break into the NBA Elie said he was so glad to be off the Warriors team because Nelson treated his players like dogs.

I don't remember Issel or David Lee ever complaining about being forced to play center when they were overmatched at center.

Webber also complained about having to defend centers in Washington . . . regularly. So, don't think it was just Nelson.

Bobby Jones -- penbeast0, SinceGatlingWasARookie, DoctorMJ

Ben Wallace -- ronnymac2, Joao Saraiva

Chris Webber -- SactoKingsFan, trex_8063

Elton Brand -- Owly

Looks like Jones is in the runoff again and looking for a tiebreaker vote between Ben Wallace and Chris Webber . . . or, if someone comes off one of Wallace or Webber to Bobby Jones, Jones will win it outright.

I'll switch from Brand to Jones (giving Jones 4 of 8 votes)

Versus Wallace, Jones gives so much more on offense (lowish usage, super high efficiency, some spacing rather than tiny usage, awful efficiency, compromises spacing yet still supposedly sometimes wanted offensive touches).
Versus Webber, obviously Webber scores more and has a clear edge in some metrics. And Webber's extremely skilled. But he has bad decisions he made on and off the court (off court including directly basketball related stuff and matters ultimately relating to the law), Jones has minutes issues and clearly isn't a star scorer but he does bring so much else to the table, his per minute productivity by the boxscore is strong and then you throw in the plus minus stuff and intangiables and D and it's not hard to see him as a high impact, high portablitiy player.

Headed out and wont be back until well after midnight so I will get the next thread up (and assume this one is Bobby Jones unless there is a sudden spurt of late voting).
