Vote Russell . . . Jordan shouldn't get any special extras for playing outside, if anything that should diminish his impact because he couldn't make as big a defensive impact as the great centers. Russ's rebounding was as spectacular as jordan's scoring (both only comparable to Wilt) and his scoring and assists match Jordan's rebounding and assists. It comes down to who could make a weak team, not adequate like Kareem but champions. The early Celtic teams were weak (the first championship team, the ONLY player other than Russell shooting over .400 from the field was Bill Sharman at .416 (Russell was at .427, tops on team) and there were no great defenders other than Russell. Yet they won . . . and won . . . and changed personnel completely and won . . . and won . . . the only constant was Russell, he put those other Celtics in the HOF.
