Athletically and Physically Jordan is superior. Those hands and leaping ability make the difference.
I believe Jordan was able to create a shot for himself better than Kobe can now but Kobe instead just makes disgusting contested jumpers.

Both have a disgusting inner drive to be the best, but when it comes down to it, MJ is much more better.

As a Laker and Kobe fan, I just appreciate the fact that Kobe tries his best to polish his skill and take his game to the highest level possible. His work ethic is great and inspiring. Comparing him to MJ is not that fun, I just appreciate the fact that he's great.

Tell your friend he's blinded by his love.

Hand size does give you an advantage in many areas of the game, but shooting isn't one of them.

Kobe's athleticism is/was nowhere near Jordan's. Your friend gotta watch some Jordan videos from hoopsynclopedia.

Jordan didn't guard him a single possession that game. But yeah, it was "on" Jordan".

Jordan was clearly more athletic than Kobe. Better one footed leaper by a good margin, better two footed leaper (not by as big a margin), better leaper off a hop step, much faster first step and more explosive in general (changing speeds, acceleration etc.), better reflexes, better body control (Kobe is closest here), better end to end speed. And yeah, hand size.

^^Kobe had some ridiculous athleticism in his athletic prime years. I think Kobe's athleticism though has dropped off alot since then.

I just tell folks Kobe is 50% of MJ's greatness, and that's all

Hand size is extremely important. It's obvious makes dribbling alot easier and puts more backspin on your shot. Someone mentioned how Redick is fine shooting; did you ever seen this guy create his own shot in the NBA or do a stop-and-pop over an avg NBA defender? His shooting is fine when there is no one within 5 feet of him. Not to mention how great larger hands help on defense.

That being said, Jordan has alot more attributes that are superior than Kobe, than just the size of their hands.

Kobe has girly hands.

Jordan's one handed ball fakes, grabbing rebounds with one hand were some of the things Kobe dreams of being able to do. Kobe has never performed those kind of moves with the grace and devastation of Mike. Jordan probably had the best hands of any guard in history besides Dr. J. You simply need to go to youtube and subscribe to:

Hoopsencyclopedia

Type that in an prepare to be educated. This is the best collection of Jordan footage on the internet hands down. Game footage, compilations you name it. Show your friend this and watch as his mouth drop.

Michael Jordan is a once in a lifetime athlete. Kobe is a every 10-15 year type. Compare Kobe to young Penny Hardaway or young Grant Hill. But not Michael Jeffrey Jordan.

Jordan is slightly more skilled than Kobe, not by much. That's what convinces many people to make the weak argument that Kobe is near his level, or even the greatest of his own generation. Kobe Bryant is certainly one of the most skilled players of all-time, probably in the top 3, which seems to be the argument in his favor, and what former players and coaches seem to go by when it comes to their own thoughts of Kobe's greatness.

The difference between the 2 guys clearly isn't skill.

Jordan was the smarter player on the court. This isn't a knock on Kobe, because his basketball IQ is tremendous. Michael's shot selection was simply much better, and his ability to read defenses was slightly better as well.

Jordan was more athletic. This one is obvious, and it certainly helped Jordan tremendously. Better first-step, better vertical, better control of his body. This is something Kobe can't compete with, and there's nothing he could have really done in this regard. Kobe is no slouch athletically though, which some people seem to ignore.

The hands are obviously a factor as well, which goes along with the other physical advantages that Mike had over Kobe.

It's not his hands, it's the fact that he absolutely sucks in every regard to Jordan. He can't do anything better than Jordan except MAYBE shoot from a wider range, but even then he sucks ass in comparison, since during Jordan's prime the three wasn't attempted as much as today. Like I said, it's like comparing Duncan to Antonie Walker, and even then I'd take Duncan to shoot a three over Walker when the game is on the line, any day. Same thing when comparing Kobe v Jordan.

I, Baller 24 approve of this message.
