Kobe's prime is not better than any of the top 10's prime save perhaps (and I say "perhaps," not definitely) Duncan and Russell.

MJ
Wilt
Magic
Bird
Shaq
Hakeem
KAJ

All have primes unquestionably superior to Kobe's. They all had a larger impact on games prime v. prime, many of them significantly so.

If Kobe gets anywhere close to 8 rings, hes GOAT, easy, period.

The dude isn't even the greatest of his own era. Championships won't change the fact he's only managed 1 MVP and even that one felt like a Karl Malone version.

If Kobe gets ring number 5.

Then he is in this group Magic, Jabbar, Jordan and the Kobe.

i would even go further and say he's never been the best player in the league at any point in his career. luckily, i'm not the only one to think that way:

Years (Winner - Share))
'08-09 (LeBron James - 0.967)
'07-08 (Kevin Garnett - 0.692)
'06-07 (Tim Duncan - 0.918)
'05-06 (Dwyane Wade - 0.891)
'04-05 (Tim Duncan - 0.868)
'03-04 (Kevin Garnett - 1.000)
'02-03 (Tim Duncan - 0.964)
'01-02 (Shaquille O'Neal - 0.884)
'00-01 (Shaquille O'Neal - 1.000)

no question kobe is a great player, but his legacy is solely based on sustained excellency and longevity.

Sure it is. How many players were an elite scorer & defender & closer in their prime?

He was never an elite defender and closer. Good? Sure, defensively he could be very good when he put the effort in, but he was always inconsistent. And contrary to popular belief, he was never a great closer prior to this season.

And how is Kobes prime way better than Dirks? Both of their value comes from their ability to score, whih Dirk does more efficiently, and if I'm not mistaken, Dirk has been a better closer throughout their careers.

Stats, stats, stats. Thats all yall have. If I wanted to get excited over numbers then I wouldnt be wasting my time watching NBA.

At the end of the day, only the people who cant win give a **** about the stats.

Ill take the wins all day long. 6 finals and 4 rings in 10 years and counting.

ok, i dont really care and I dont think the Lakers care who others think is the MVP either, a win is a win.

Not everybody has the Leloser mentality of Check my stats and my meaningless regular season MVPs spoil my fans.

and the problem is?

if you feel he never been the best player thats personal opinion but fact is he is consistenly great and keeps his team in contention. come on he looks to be on his way to his third straight trip to the finals. b4 gasol got to LA he lead the league in scoring 2 straight years with scrubs on the lakers. b4 that he missed the playoffs but after you break apart from another memeber of the GOAT top 10 you would think there is an adjustment period.

well i never said he was the GOAT that was someone else all I said another ring seperates from Shaq/Duncan to join Magic/Bird.

If you really truthfully believe Pippen > Kobe then I applaud you.

You would then have admitted that all your years of watching basketball have been a colossal waste of time.

Kobe is the most popular basketball player in the WORLD for a reason, but hey if you think Pippen is better good for you. Its just like that, somebody has to **** the ugly fat chicks right?

So popularity determines who is the better player now?

So I guess LeBron has had a better career than Duncan already right?

Truth is Kobe fans try to inflate the value of winning championships a team accomplishment because Kobe falls so short in his career in terms of individual accomplishments.

Would I concede Kobe as a top 10 all-time player with another ring? WHy not.

But Kobe fans want to take it a step further and try to put the guy in the argument for top 7, even top 5 of all-time which is beyond absurdity
