Re: The Lebron Thread (2014-15 Pt. 2)
Missed the first 3 quarters but his defense looked pretty tight in the 4th. He was suffocating 1-on-1 and the floor awareness seems really on point.
~34 PER tonight. Turnovers hurt his numbers, but this is a little misleading. Having Lebron control the ball so frequently actually helps keep Cleveland's overall TO% fairly low.
Averages in the last 3 are 34/5/7/1/2 on 70% TS with 3 TO's. 39 PER.
Cleveland's defense in their last 16 games is now at -2.5. NOP game is skewing that a bit (-4.2 without it), but the trend is definitely positive.

Lol not sure if serious. That's the same thing people say about Kobe's minutes the last couple of years under MDA and now under Shaw. Given how the athletic decline is quite visible this year I think he would benefit from better minutes. Of course, in single game situations if he needs to play he should but he has also had a lot of 40+ minute games to start the season.
Hahah no I was mostly being sarcastic, but there was a grain of truth to it. Lebron has to play an equal role as Blatt in managing his minutes by being aware of his own limits, though Blatt does tend to heavily rely on Lebron--but it's gotten better over the course of the season.

38 assists away from reaching 6k career assists in his 12th season. Impressive feat.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Lol thought so but wasn't sure. I think he definitely needs better management and that has to come from Blatt. At the very least I see the Cavs making it to the ECF. That means another deep playoff run and the Cavs are going to need LeBron to be their best player and the best player in the league if they want to make the Finals any possibly even win though at this point I would take any Western team over the Cavs. Your Warriors are looking 110% legit right now.

Yeah it looked really bad at the beginning of the year but I feel better about the minutes thing now, and more blowouts will occur which obviously will help his minutes as well.
Warriors finally got some offensive sets that didn't involve relying on Curry creating his own 3 and odd Klay Thompson post ups and it looks great frankly. Kerr is really panning out, too; he was a question mark to me before the season. It's definitely good times in the Bay Area.

LeBron has been beasting and proving the doubters wrong once again. Either GSW gets a really great record and Curry can at least sustain or MVP #5 might be on the way and LBJ might catch MJ in that regard.

Not if they don't get the top record in the conference. Considering they were the hands on favorite from the get go.

Sure, I agree LeBron has to get the top record in the conference or at least get close to it. If Cleveland wins 56 and is #1 but GSW wins 65 I believe it will still be Curry.
It could also happen Cleveland winning 56, Bulls 57 and GSW falling apart and that might be enough for LeBron to win since no one on the Bulls squad will win the MVP award, not even Pau Gasol.
I wouldn't say it's a must for Cleveland to have the #1 record but yes the record is relevant.

I wasn't the first to come up with GOATBrook because you can insert GOAT into the name of most players but I WAS the FIRST to refer to him exclusively as GOATbrook. I have never been prouder of myself.

Cleveland's been a model of utter ineptitude on defense when Lebron's off the floor. In their last 15 games, they've been a -2.4 defense against an average ORTG of 107.9. In those 15 games, with Lebron ON the floor, they've put up a 101.2 DRTG (478 MP), or -6.7. With Lebron OFF the floor they've put up a 114.3 DRTG (242 MP), or +6.4.
That's the difference between the 2nd ranked defense and the 29th ranked defense right now.
Fixed these with BBR numbers instead of NBAwowy, because I noticed that wowy had incomplete data.
Now I can account for tonight's game. So in the last 16 games, Cleveland has been a -2.5 defense.
With Lebron ON the floor, their DRTG is 100.2. With Lebron OFF the floor, their DRTG is 115.0 (!!).

Can anyone tell me how many And 1 opportunities Lebrons had this year compared to previous years? I feel it would be significantly down.
Also his defense has been real good lately.

Without tonight, he's at 19 through 22 games. I'd take that as a ratio of his true shooting attempts or free throw attempts. Eyeballing it, seems like it's about the same rate as previous years.
