I think his relatively low minutes has to eliminate him from consideration. But I agree he's been really really good.

It's 2019 28.6 mpg isn't that low. Siakam is at 32.2 mpg, Gobert is at 31.6 mpg, Giannis is at 32.9 mpg. If minutes matter like that Paul George is literally the only acceptable answer since he's 4 mpg over the next closest contender for the award.

Yeah that would be bonkers, especially for me as I have him as neither the MVP nor DPoY.

While this is true over the course of the season those differences add up. Turner has currently played 288 less minutes than Giannis who has the next lowest total of the players you mentioned.

That being said I do think George deserves enormous credit for his defense considering his mins and usage. I think if I had a vote I'd probably still give it to him even with OKCs recent problems.

One scenario I could see happening though is voters who go with Harden for MVP giving Giannis DPOY votes as a kind of consolation. In the end I don't think I'd have a problem with any of the guys mentioned winning it including Turner. Can make a strong case for any of them.

I was watching the game last night and couldn't help thinking how Nurkic was a top 5 center this season.

If he played every game like last night hed be the best center but he has inconsistencies

Jokic, Embiid, Gobert, Kat and Vucci are the clear top 5. Nurk is prolly 6th

AD? His half season beats out Nurk. He's only played 124 minutes more than AD.

Was interested to hear Lowe/Russillo a bit on awards. Both had Giannis as a clear MVP, DPOY to Gobert for Lowe (Russillo didn't really have one). All NBA centers were Embiid/Jokic/KAT (1 and 2 seemed interchangable), forwards Giannis/KD/PG/Lebron/Kawhi/Griffin. Guards were Curry/Harden, Dame 2nd team and Russillo had Kemba/Westbrook/Beal, Lowe had Kyrie/Westbrook/Beal iirc.

Not too bad. Lebron 2nd team over Blake? Can't agree. Hell Lebron's played about 600 minutes less than Lamarcus, idk if he should even be All NBA. And drop Beal. Include Kemba and Kyrie.

Yeah I feel the same, I don't know if Lebron is 3rd team let alone 2nd. Guards I had Beal over Kemba but it's close and I could flip at a moment's notice. TBH I don't even hate Beal and Kemba over Kyrie given Kyrie's....other stuff.

Only seems worse because he's not as good. Remember the fit out thing? Lebron was insufferable. But there's only one Lebron. I can get 10-15 guys to do what Kyrie does minus being an ****.

To be fair that's kinda why Lebron can do it though. He has much more clout.

I'm no Kyrie fan but you definitely can't come close to 15 guys who can do what he does offensively.

Still I agree with them that Kyrie walking isn't that bad a scenario for Boston. Tho it goes to show that people always overrate windows. Boston's contention window may close without having ever begun. They all all those value contracts and all those draft picks and no dead weight on the roster and they may peak as a 2nd tier Eastern Conference team.

Push your chips in right now teams. Learn from this.

Vuc won't get it but he should get serious DPOY consideration if anybody is actually rationalizing robbing Gobert of it.

My All-NBA teams are pretty set honestly:

1st: Curry/Harden/PG/Giannis/Embiid
2nd: Dame/Russ/Durant/Kawhi/Jokic
3rd: Kyrie/Beal/LeBron/Blake/KAT

MVP is gonna go down the wire between the Beard and the Freak. This is probably the closest race in a while.

DPoY I like Gobert but I think Giannis deserves consideration... anchoring the best defense in the league not as a center is no joke.

Giannis still plays alot of minutes at the 5. He isnt a traditional fulltime C but they sure use him alot like one in their defensive schemes specially with no Brook on the floor
