I wasn't a fan of trading Hernangomez and Beasley just because of stuff like this, neither are good defenders but both are rotation level guys they could have used.

Also, wasn't sure where to say this, but this Clippers game is why using averages is so flawed in a playoff series.

PG is now averaging 24/8/4 on 56% TS.

Westbrook was the master of this

Westbrook was the master of this

Actually, PG did exactly this the last two seasons. Westbrook generally was fairly consistent, even if consistently bad. He had a few like this I'm sure but PG was doing just this against Utah and Portland.

The Utah series:

Nobody ever says he played poorly that series and its always on Westbrook, despite posting two absolutely dreadful games including the close out. Also the only thing that single game really dragged up was points per game and he went from .465TS to .489. So that's pretty off on all fronts, PG's TS just jumped like 15-20%.

2nd edit: Also googled:

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2020/1/6/21050900/most-least-consistent-nba-player

So, thats not really accurate.

I mean so is judging a player before the series is over. :P

Also had a big math fail. Thought it was 4 games, not 5 and no idea what happened with TS.

I really hope that the games will be played tomorrow. I really wanted to watch OKC today, this postseason has been very interesting so far...

Same, gonna be sad if the rest of the playoffs are cancelled. Board of Governors meet tomorrow so I imagine things are Not Looking Good unfortunately.

Stumbled on this paper and thought it was pretty interesting.

https://www.econ.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/Harrison_Jake_The%20Effect%20of%20Play%20Style%20on%20NBA%20Revenues.pdf

Pretty interesting paper:

"Contemporary literature demonstrates the effects of performance, star power, and franchise characteristics on consumer demand in the National Basketball Association(NBA). Most works use gate revenue or attendance as a proxy for consumer demand. This paper extends existing literature on sporting demand by analyzing the effect of play style on gross revenues. This paper argues that the increased proportion of three-point shots is a defining characteristic of contemporary play style and uses three-point attempt rate as a proxy. Three-point attempt rate was found to have a negative effect on revenues that was statistically significant at the 2.0 percent level."

Obviously this needs to be researched further to see if it is correct as three pointers are generally exciting. But there are a lot of people in baseball who are beginning to conclude the HR/strikeout (baseball's analytics) era has weakened the popularity of the sport by becoming too much a part of a game. College hoops did push their line back because it was swallowing up their game.

If the paper is correct, & I'm sure it was noticed by the Suits who make the league rules, the NBA may consider doing the same.

I finished Court of Owls - about hour and a half read for me. It was incredible, honestly might be the best Batman story I've read (my previous favorite was Year One). I'm reading the sequel City of Owls today.

I read Black Mirror on a whim a few years ago and was really impressed. It's a must read now I think, Dick Grayson as Batman surprisingly works.

First half of Hush or so is really awesome, but it gets into fanfic territory later.

I'm planning on going into The Long Halloween saga after I finish with the Owl stuff.

After his Spurs stint George Hill has a playoff on/off of +15.6 in 8 postseasons and 101 games :o :o :o :o

insane specially considering he was on 4 different teams in different roles in that span

If the Clippers don't win the championship this year, would they consider trading PG for Embiid? Would the Sixers consider it? What else would the Clippers have to add to a package? How would Kawhi and Embiid mesh?

Only going to continue when he's such a massively better fit for Giannis than Bledsoe.

I tend to think they wouldn't given Kawhi specifcally asked for them to get PG, but I would love to see Kawhi and Embiid together

Just finished The Long Halloween a few days ago, and I definitely liked it! Art style was really cool and set the atmosphere with the story perfectly. I think that’s why I’ve fallen back in love with comics, some of the art by these artists are such a treat to see.

Also finished the Injustice vol 1 omnibus couple weeks back, and damn, while it’s not canon it’s an amazing read, like watching a movie, can’t wait for Vol 2 to come out.

Yeah I bought the Definitive History of Batman in Films, comics, etc. You should look at picking that up if you’re a super Batman fan haha it some incredibly cool stuff in there like the first Batman comic released and various scripts and stuff.
Can’t with to read the Court of Owls!

As I mentioned in the other thread I read Superman Smashes the Klan on a whim and it's great.

I finished City of Owls, it's a step down from Court of Owls.

Injustice seems interesting, I never got to play the video games even though I love fighting games.

The Long Halloween coming up soon. Did you read the sequel stuff like Dark Victory?
