Best outcome for west teams if he gets more minutes/responsibilities.

Russ has legitimately not been the problem so far. How long that lasts remains to be seen, of course, but we could have peak Steph out there at point guard and the Lue/PG/Morris trio would still keep costing us games.

Historically, 35 year old James and Howard & peak Davis were arguably the best 3-man tandem “front court” defensively and overall (if you consider PG James to be a forward). Could only imagine this scenario

Nah, Russ is significantly better than Wall and Jackson.

Russ missed two games leading up to Christmas, but since then [24 games with LAL] he averaged 17.6/6.2/7.4 with 3.5 turnovers and .435/.321/.631 shooting splits.

This is the player the Clippers are getting, which is a low-end starter but still a starter quality Point Guard [unlike Reggie Jackson and John Wall].

32.1% is fraudulent considering how much teams dare him to shoot

Besides the standards for shooting splits are different now, that’s 51TS ish which is pretty horrible and he was trending down

Sure. He is still a big upgrade for LAC over Jackson and Wall though.

Just getting to the playoffs in the first place is starting to look tenuous with Lue, PG and Morris.

A sequence that really stood out to me was what happened right after Luka made a 3 to put Dallas back up 101-99. With 2:54 left in the game, Reaves misses a 3 but the Lakers get the offensive rebound and kick it right back to Reaves who drills a contested 3 with 2:46 left with zero hesitation.

I don't think that was the play of the game or anything, as Dallas took the lead on the next possession on LeBron's "foul" of Kyrie. But that was an eye opener. With just 2 made FGs and 0 made 3s at that point in the game, literally just missing an easier 3pt look, Reaves showed ultimate confidence and made a huge play.

50/38/87 shooting splits, can create for himself, 6'5" with good defense, not scared of the moment... Reaves looks like a player. I think Pat Bev is still a valuable role player in this league, but trading him and opening up more minutes for Reaves will be great for this Lakers team imo.

I think Beasley should still start because you want him on the floor with LeBron/AD as much as possible, but I believe Reaves should and eventually will be a consistent member of the closing 5 for the Lakers. I mean yea, if Beasley is hot keep him in but Reaves just seems like a better and more complete player.

I hope LeBron is ok. The Lakers look like a true Championship contender right now, I think they match up well with just about every team in the league if LeBron/AD are both healthy. Just gotta keep stacking Ws and moving up the standings.

He will be fine, he probably has a sprain on his ankle and those rarely hold him out long.

Agreed on Reaves being a legit player.

On this piece though, I can't get there just yet. Need to see how the Suns look with KD, because that has the potential to be damn near Warriors (or healthy Nets Big 3) level of dominant.

I am excited to see how Vando does on KD tho. That potentially is someone you can stick on KD and not need to send Code Red level of help every time. But idk if the Lakers have an answer for Booker. Guard defense is a relative weakness.

When you're old af playing such a physically demanding sport you're bound to get hurt a lot. That's been the story of LeBron's Laker career.

Yeah, but he got unlucky [maybe Karma for being so lucky earlier in his career] with a couple of weird, freaky injuries. The 2019 team was starting to gel, they were crushing the 2019 Warriors and then LeBron pops his groin. Then in 2021 when Solomon freaking Hill landing on his ankle/leg for a loose ball.

This injury is a common one [Rolled Ankle, though it is weird it rolled inwards--that's rare].
