This is the problem I've been screaming about.

Lakers don't have role players that do this stuff. Their role players don't hustle besides Howard.

Because they aren't real role players. The real role players are the ones they traded and/or allowed to walk.

I'm at the point where I don't doubt at all LeBron could be a top level player into his 40s.

Remember a few years back people laughed at the idea of Tom Brady still dominating in Football into his 40s? (Hello Max Kellerman). Also I'm not comparing them 1 to 1, very different roles and sports but more so what LeBron is still doing in his late 30s.

A catastrophic injury is the only thing that can stop him, imho. He turns 40 in three years. Three years ago he was in his first year as a Laker. So, the decline between his first LA season and now is the decline we’ve seen in three years. There’s been some decline. He’s no longer the clear cut best in the NBA. But he’s still absolutely elite. I think he can still be elite in another three years.

Yeah, avoiding a serious injury (which is tough granted) with his rate of decline he should still be in the elite conversation by 40. Not what he is now or was 5 years ago but it would still be pretty unprecedented.

Kareem and Karl Malone were the gold standard for being an over 40 player but they were role players or just above by then.

And Reaves. THT should but doesn’t.

Yeah THT does not hustle, he does contest shots and he does ok with deflections but that's usually from being tasked a prime defense role. THT also never screens on offense, he's a very on ball type player, terrible fit for the team.

Reaves does hustle. Stanley Johnson looks great and Collison looked ok as hustle players.

Westbrook and Davis are ok. Westbrooks main issue is a lack of contesting shots so he can get boards.. I hope someone is trying to change that.

Goddamn that gamewinner, Derozan and Caruso non-signings with the Westbrook, Jordan and Fizdale signings has to be an all time worst offseason for a contender. 0/5 on offseason decisions will wreck any team. It may already be too late but Lakers can't afford to get anything else wrong. I thought they should keep Rondo and Stanley johnson but I guess I can see why Rondo is surplus. He's still far ahead of Westbrook as a playoff performer so it would have been a great plan b.

Will take a playoff rondo sighting over 7 playoff westbrook games. Westbrook's contract is a killer. 50m and you still need a guard shooter, guard defender, floor manager, optional rim protector and bigs who can shoot. With what cap room?

Yeah Caruso, KCP, DeRozan, LeBron, Davis could have been the team but they would have been hard-capped.

Then don't do any trades and re-sign all your pieces. Last season I thought the point of passing on Lowry was they were cautious about having no one reliable in roster spots 4-7, then they traded all of that for westbrook anyway and lost Caruso for nothing. I mean, sometimes the best move is doing nothing especially if Westbrook is said alternative.

Lmao Collison is inactive tonight. They’re really going to let him go so they can keep Deandre Jordan. I hate this organization so much.

too early to know. You don't trade Rondo and not have a replacement guard till Nunn comes back so he might still be in your plans but just inactive. Ariza and stanley johnson have to be fit in to the rotation so coaching might want to introduce the pieces methodically...maybe, I dont coach.

You don’t do a lot of things, but the Lakers seem to do them anyway lol. Just seems weird to have him inactive. I glanced at my TV and saw dreads, thought DJ was in the game, and about chucked my remote out the window  Fortunately it was just Ariza.

Imagine having this sort of fast paced, small ball lineup in your pocket all year yet insisting on starting DJ for a month.

  4th peak? 5th? Lol. Should have perfected this last year but instead wanted Drummond and DAJ.
