Guys, tone it down. I had to ban one person from the project today and that takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. I don't want to be Mr. Cop here, just another arrogant, opinionated, stat-freak who enjoys arguing. Thanks.

You characterized me as having "arrogance". In any context I can quickly think of, that's a personal attack or insult.

If I said "You're obsessing about stats because you lack the basketball understanding to look at anything else", that would be an insult too. That's one reason I didn't say it. The other reason I didn't say it is because I don't know whether it's in fact true. Similarly, you don't know whether my posts are screwed up by "arrogance" -- indeed, I'm not sure what you were even accusing me of being arrogant about, let alone what your evidence is for the accusation, other than the fact that you disagree with me.

This is a great project. The best basketball minds I've ever communicated with, talking about the sport's history and stats and what they saw and what contemporaries thought...comparing criteria and discussing the game through their own prism. It's beautiful. It's as beautiful as a swing pass that ultimately gets the ball to an open teammate.

I didn't hate Isiah or the Bad Boys, now if he'd played for the Knicks . . . .

He may not be getting quite as much love as he deserves, but there are others really deserving as well. In all fairness, I think his playoff record is used too heavily against him.

We are adding Jerky Way to the voting panel; he is new to RealGM but his posts here in the forum have been consistently polite and interesting. Welcome.

We are strongly considering two more candidates but need some decent debate from them here on the PC Board to put them over the top, just voting isn't enough.

This is a great observation. I can see the rationale for Wilt above both, or even below both. But in between? Bird and Magic track so closely for most people and have the same type of argument. Wilt is an often all-or-nothing guy in people's eyes.

Does anyone here really rate them in that order and could they explain how Wilt is over Bird but not Magic? Or is this just a result of the sausage making we do when we combine everyone's votes?

It was simply a matter of people coming in and voting without explanation and leaving, because they thought he'd fallen too far already, and shouldn't fall any farther. No one actually even attempted to address the points ElGee and Doc MJ were making.
I remember your posts from the RPOY project, you consistently brought it. Please continue to do so, sir. This board needs guys like you to counteract ... worthless posters
