I think it is interesting for many to see the comparisons of players from different eras side by side. It's difficult to appreciate just how tall Kareem was until you see him dwarf Dwight. Mutombo also seems really tall, taller than his listed 7-1. NBA height are bs everyone knows that, so it is interesting to figure out the true heights,

Yeah, I get it, but everyone also knows that Dwight is not a 7-footer, he's more like 6'10'' 1/2. Kareem is somewhere between 7'2'' and 7'3'', and it would seem to be correct looking at that photo.

Most interesting thing to me is how tall Walton looks, maybe even slightly taller than Shaq (yet he always says he's not even 7-feet, he's 6'11''...sure).

Ben's afro ends at the same level as the top of Russell's head...Meaning Ben without the afro is probably just 6'7'', not the 6'9'' he's listed as. Russell, meanwhile, is somewhere between 6'10'' and 6'11'', about the same as Dwight. I mean, look at that:

Old people tend to shrink a bit, and Russell was about 75 in that photo, but still looks just half an inch shorter than Howard to me. I could easily buy Russell as 6'11'' in shoes in his prime.

Russell actually looks slightly taller in that pic to me. Dwight is a foot or two in the foreground and still doesn't stand out as taller. Also, Russell has prob lost at least a couple inches since he was 30.

How about mid-60s Wilt?

When was this picture taken? Wilt passed in 1999 (age 63) and Shaq was with Orlando from 1992-1996. If this is Shaq as a rookie that places Wilt's age at 56 in this pic. Wilt was still in incredible shape, running most days, lifting, playing volleyball and basketball, and generally making other males feel inferior, lol.

Poor Ewing, he looks small next to those two behemoths.

Ewing was hunched in that picture, he's shorter than both of them but not the small player at all, he was behemoth in his own right .

Ewing was about 6'11" or so, a little taller than Hakeem

But next to Shaq or Wilt you wouldn't guess that

Oden is a legit 7 foot.

Love is a legit 6'10

Chandler is a legit 7 foot.

The man is at minimum 6'11. pics from here

I've watched enough Cavs games the last 4 years to know that Love is no way shape or form a legit 6-10. He is almost the same height as LeBron who is just over 6-7 barefoot. Love is 6-8 max.

Yeah I know but Ewing was my favorite center in that 90's era, too bad he had bad knees, he would have been even better player than he was.

Kevin Love measured 6-7.75 without shoes. And he looks it. His dad - who was once listed 6-8, is taller than he is.

My bad. I guess I was mistaken about Kevin Love.

You can find that stuff here now at least going back to 2001
