It was definitely the right decision when they took that tack with Dirk.
But I'd say Dallas still doesn't exactly have strong defensive personnel. I mean I love Doe Doe, but if he's your best defender....
But he, Bullock, and Maxi are really the only guys it feels right to call plus defenders in the rotation. Luka isn't. Brunson isn't. Powell isn't especially not as a starting center. Dinwiddie isn't. Hardaway when healthy isn't. Bertans isn't. Green competes hard and has the tools, but still makes young player mistakes.
A lot if it is scheme and effort. Now if this Gobert to Dallas noise has legs this off-season, Dallas moves right up there in the conversation with best defenses in the league and trusts Luka to make the offense good enough.
