Tell you what: If Danny Green wins Finals MVP, I can't think of anything that better symbolizes the modern NBA.

The Spurs must be playing historically great D if LeBron's playing like this... don't know what else to say about him. Completely ineffective in the 2nd half.

What makes you think he'll win fmvp? And how does it symbolize the modern NBA if he somehow miraculously wins it?

Not necessarily, he had a worse series against the Mavs 2 years ago.

Not necessarily as good as game 4, but say to the tune of 24/5/5 or so on good efficiency.
For those who still have Wade in consideration for the 4th or 5th spot, G5 had to have helped.

Green has been by far their best player in this series. It's not even close, to be honest. Before tonight, Parker, Duncan, and Manu had played like crap.

Duncan and Parker have been just fine, actually. Duncan's value comes mostly on D, and Parker has been silently very effective in their wins. I am not sure how much longer Danny Green can maintain his hot shooting, especially now that they're on the road.

Coming into tonight, Parker was averaging 14/7 on crap shooting. He was completely ineffective in games 2-4. And wins aren't the only games in which your performance matters.
Duncan has been crap on offense, and defensively, yeah, he's been solid, but I don't think he's had nearly the impact that Green has had simply by shooting the ball at a GOAT level.

Danny Green is their leading scorer on 81% TS in the series. Anyone making an argument that someone who can claim that isn't the Finals MVP better have some huge ammunition.
Now look, I'm not saying Green is the best player on the Spurs in general. We all know he isn't. We know he's a limited player who can only do what he's doing because of the more versatile players around him...but if you hit your shots well enough, that's still going to bypass everyone else.
Put another way: If Green were only hitting open 3's like we know we can typically expect a role playing sharp shooter to do, this is a very different series. The fact that Green's not going to be able to do this over an entire season is irrelevant when we just consider the Finals MVP, which is about who is changing what the series is.
In symbolizes the modern NBA because the recognition that the value of role players shooting 3's has led to diminished importance of star scoring. It would be appropriate then if this happened to a big enough degree that a team wins the Finals because their role player gets hot and that's enough to bypass a team with by far the best player on the court.

He's played great but I don't see him winning fmvp, my bet is they give it to Tony Parker with his game winner in Miami and solid play tonight if he plays good next game he'll be fmvp.

This is the question of course. No one will be shocked if Green disappears. It's just that now that we're only 1 Spurs win away from the end of the series, talking about Green as Finals MVP starts seeming bizarrely plausible.

Danny Green winning finals mvp might be the best thing for the league because then they will have to be forced to go to a playoff mvp instead.

I really want Danny to win it and he deserves it but they're giving it to Parker just because. I hope I'm wrong because he's outplayed everyone else so far.

I'd agree with this, and though it's not fair, doesn't it still make Parker have a jump in your ranking? I'd put him around the 5-9/10 range for RS, and with a finals mvp (even in name only), wouldn't you have to bump him to at least 4 with the way he has played. I still say top 3 is locked in for me, but I'd really probably have to put him at 4 with that.

I thought he was good in Games 3 and 4. In the injury game he went down early, but did a great job at running the O while on the floor. Otherwise, one has to realize Parker's been consistently attracting more defensive attention from the Heat, and Danny Green's role within the offense is much easier to handle than Tony Parker's.
I am curious to see what adjustments Spo makes for Green. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Battier getting more burn/starting next game.

Well, I think Miller's run of great shooting has kind of run its course, and it looks like Battier is finding his shot again, so I could see Battier taking Miller's spot the rest of the way, especially since he's a better defender.

That would be annoying given that if there were ever a time to bend the rules to avoid absurdity it would have been in '07 when Parker won his Finals MVP. That fact that we exist today in a world where I hear radio hosts say "But remember, Parker was the team's best player the last time they won a title too" is reason enough to grab a blunt object.

Through the first 5 games can't you make a pretty good case that Kawhi has been the Spurs best player when you factor in his defense.

His defense and rebounding have been top notch and he has been the most consistent player on the Spurs IMO
