So, if we're gonna talk takes, "Kyrie is a top 5 PG all time" has to be up there. Or Lillard in the top 10 so far, but the Kyrie takes are flying.
All I've learned is in NBA talk the only thing that matters is the thing that happened yesterday, and if you're flashy you're great.

The Nets so far look a lot like the old OKC Thunder - at the end of tight games, they seem to devolve into a KD/Kyrie your turn/my turn isolation offense. I was hopeful that Nash would bring a more balanced approach but maybe that's too much to hope for when your stars aren't great playmakers and fall into tunnel vision all too often.

I've been a bit lower on them, just due to the defense, and not knowing what Durant would be on return. He's been good, but the defense is a real concern.
But they whooped the Jazz last night so now Kyrie is top 5 all time

Also totally different topic, and not hot take related at all but the most random variance thing I could find so far:
Opponents are attempting 5.8% fewer 3s while Siakam is on court this season, but making them at a 22.8% higher clip (its like 45% opponent 3 point shooting in his minutes).

Hasn’t the nets defense been okay so far? I haven’t seen the games tbf, and how jordan and Allen will be in he postseason is gonna be interesting

Think it had some good games, but their first few wings were relatively poor competition. Also in general I'm less sure on how KD ends up defensively. But the Hawks and Wizards both went off against them and iirc at least one other game?

Right now he's looking to be the kind of savvy role player the Spurs always had when they were good. If he keeps this up, Marcus Morris might have to come off the bench when he gets back.
Update: Morris has actually volunteered to come off the bench because Batum has turned out to be such a great fit. That settles that, I guess.

MTV don't wanna jinx you guys but actually think this is the Clippers year. Been my pick since preseason.

I hope you're right. I'm personally concerned about Lue (who seems to me like a lateral move from Doc), PG's annual roller-coaster ride, and Lou, Reggie and Kennard all being on the roster despite their issues on defense.

Re: 2020-21 NBA Season Discussion
Raptors are essentially playing 72 road games. They're allowing some fans in Tampa which so far have all been opponent fans.
They reportedly bungled the Ibaka and Gasol situations even though their front office is top tier and had great relationships with both. Instead they sign two journeymen who most hardcore NBA fans know of but as we're seeing they're total stiffs who don't fit at all and are probably lucky to have NBA contracts.
Are the Raptors stealth tanking?? All their main guys had good games tonight and they still lost comfortably.

Is Reggie even going to get much playoff minutes? I doubt it
Lou is a big worry tho. Hes like a more efficient Clippers Jamal Crawford. Casuals think hes a nice player but when hes not making crazy shots hes usually the worst player on the floor with his horrible defense and tunnel vision. No Trez to run pick and roll with anymore either and I dont think he shares many mins with Serge
Batum was a massive pickup but overall I still see the same team. Better shooting with Kennard but i still wouldnt trust the Clips at all against teams with top tier bigs (Jokic, Gobert, Ad, if Kp is healthy for Dallas, prolly Ayton by the end of the season)
Clips just have too many holes TBH and went all in on the dynamic small wing play which will give you favorable matchups against alot of teams, produce blowouts but extremely vulnerable specially against some of the top teams

I hear you. Think everyone has a flaw out west, and the clippers improved the playoff roster some.
Now that I said this feel free to blame me for jinxing it if they don't.

Re: 2020-21 NBA Season Discussion
I'm really confused why Seth Curry wasn't more sought after. He is one of the best catch and shoot players currently (and all-time). We just saw Davis Bertans sign a massive contract and Curry does even more offensively as a passer and is easier to cover defensively given his size.
Crazy to me how GMs around the league don't value his shooting like they should.

I think when GMs look for 3 pt shooters, they automatically think "3 and D" and look to see if the guy has the length to be a factor on that end as well. Seth, unfortunately doesn't fit that bill, despite the career 45% from three which really only a handful of players can boast. So he isn't as hot of a commodity as he should be.

Jazz effort so far this year has been so lackluster, team (especially DM/Bojan) just don't give a **** if their shot isn't falling.
I bought a boat.

Re: 2020-21 NBA Season Discussion
I think the lack of fans has definitely been a contributing factor to some of these lethargic performances. I've seen a lot of teams go through the motions. I can understand how players can have a tough time getting up for games with no fans in a condensed 72 game season.

Is this the reason why you changed your team logo?
Just doesn't feel right to see your screen name without a Jazz logo.
