With the 107th pick, the Rethymno Cretan Kings select Cameron Johnson.

Image

He's a sharpshooter of the highest order.
  • Averages 43.1% from 3 this season on 5.4 attempts per game.
  • Averaged 44.6% from 3 on 3.5 attempts per game in the 2021 playoffs. Helped the Suns reach the NBA finals.

He's a plus defender.
  • Defensive RAPTOR: +1.9 (53rd best among all players in the NBA)
  • Defensive LEBRON:+1.14 (49th best among all players in the NBA)
  • Defensive Estimated Plus/Minus: +0.8 (78th percentile)

All in all, he's a very useful 3+D swing.

Looks like it is time to finally draft a Magic player. He's going to bring me scoring and playmaking from the bench to make sure my second unit isn't exclusively defensive specialists.

I'm going with Cole Anthony

Lol, I did my best to draft someone else for a few rounds, but at this point I can't wait anymore. I dont understand why he's still on board, he's actually an ok to good defender if not left alone in space.

I am taking the last All Star from 2021 left, Nikola Vucevic.

Amazing value pick late in the 7th round. His scoring efficiency is down this season, but the talent is undeniable.

Absolutely love the fit of Vucevic on your team. Giannis is the best help defender in the NBA. If you wanna maximize his effectiveness on defense, you gotta pair him with a rim protector. When BroLo was healthy, the Bucks were running a drop scheme on defense. BroLo was dropping back to protect the rim. Giannis was operating as a free safety being everywhere at the same time. Fwiw, they now run a hedge-and-recover scheme in the absence of BroLo. I reckon Vuc would be an amazing fit next to Giannis. He may not have the lateral quickness to defend the perimeter, but he's very effective in a drop scheme. At the same time, he can space the floor for Giannis on the offensive side of the ball.

I was contemplating drafting Vuc. Opted for Wood cause he's a versatile/switchable defender. My team is full of switchable wings, hence I plan to run a switch-heavy defensive scheme. It's all about the fit. If I had Giannis, I would have opted for Vucevic.

I was on the fence between Vuc and Wood with my 6th pick. Opted for Wood cause he's a versatile/switchable defender. My team is full of switchable wings, hence I plan to run a switch-heavy defensive scheme. It's all about the fit. If I had Giannis, I would have opted for Vucevic.
My priority is scheme versatility on defense.
Now I can both play a conventional defense with Vuc dropping unleashing Lonzo and Dort on the ball (that's even better than the combination with Caruso), have Vuc high ala Jokic counting on Giannis's mobility to cover up or switch everything with Giannis at center. And Vuc is big enough to at least provide some resistance to Jokic and Embiid, especially with the extra help.
I think with these 7 men I can match up with anybkind

If you start Giannis at the 5, I'd run a hedge-and-recover scheme. Giannis can hedge-and-recover in no time, thanks to his elite physical tools and athleticism. If you switch everything, opposition teams would be setting fake picks. You risk ending up with Giannis away form the action. More often than not, Giannis would end up in the corners defending a useless offensive player. He'd be away from the basket, hence he wouldn't be able to protect the rim. He wouldn't be able to dominate the boards either.

I think I understand why Vucevic was still on board, everyone of you is set with their starting center and there's not much value in having two of them.
I think this says a lot also about how high is replacement level for this position, if Vuc is simply the last one to be picked.
Actually, I suspect it was eminence's next pick, he's the only one without a real one in his roster.

I can do both. The whole point here is that I can say I will do that or switch depending on the results and how the opponent will adjust, riding the one proving to be more effective. I can be more specific once I know the opponents' strategy.
But having the option to switch in modern NBA I think is too important.

The Bucks were switching everything under Kidd. They were massively underachieving at the time. They changed to a drop scheme under Bud. They instantly transformed into a legit contender. Switching isn't always the answer. Different players have different strengths/weaknesses. Anyway, I guess we'll talk more about this once we finalize our rosters.

Curry with Jokic is a match made in heaven, even if it's the lesser Curry.

The disrespect for a certain guy who's a massive star in the real NBA is hilarious. I'm wondering who's gonna bite the bullet.

Yup they will play a lot together.

I’m on record saying Jokic and Steph would be the GOAT offensive duo. I don’t think Seth is much behind if he can lean on a greater force.
