What are some benchmarks for Wemby that he should hit by the end of his sophomore year? Top 30 player in the league? Elite defender at least?

It's perfectly possible he's a top 30 player in the league after his rookie year on defense alone.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

I think Wemby should be like an all-nba level guy by his 2nd year in the league.

Luka was. Zion didn't make all-nba but was deserving to me.

I don't see why Wemby shouldn't follow suit. He's capable of more but that seems bottom of the barrell stuff.

the suns let the blazers score 40 in the 1 st quarter, i know they are not trying but their defense is just terrible, especially with Gordan in the starting lineup

to be fair to Colbinii, Wemby wasn't looking like freaking Kevin Durant in Kareem's body while in France :D

The tools were there. I was just all in on the Al Horford + Rudy Gobert is still the best player in the NBA and didn't see the pure fluidity he moved with.

It's difficult with prospects in general, especially overseas because it requires you to put on a different type of glasses we (I) usually wear.

It's wicked early with Wemby and preseason means nothing at all, though it is nice to see him looking good. He definitely has a chance to be something incredible, and probably health is a greater concern than him not being at least a good player. Will be very, very interesting to see how he evolves over his rookie deal.

What's the historical record of 7'4" and over guys NOT being injury-prone? I don't think it's been very good.

It’s a small sample and the thing with Wemby is his fluidity in comparison to those guys who look like they got cinderblock feet lol

Not saying he’s not gonna get hurt or more at risk than an average guard or anything but it’s absolutely different lol

Kevin Durant didn't look like Kevin Durant as a rookie either to be fair

Kristaps is closest but he’s been injured non-stop. Hasn’t looked the same physically since his rookie season either.

So are Boston, Milwaukee, Denver, the Lakers and maybe Phoenix locked in as the top contenders and a level above everyone else?

I would put them all in the A-Tier for contenders, yes.

Maybe another slight jump in box scores, similar to last year. He'll be forced to play more C this year with the current roster so there's that to look forward to.

My hope is some of his scoring game in the paint continues to improve. Don't think he'll ever be much of a shooter but if he can actually score out of the post when he gets good position that would be nice to see. Perhaps the theoretical improvement to team spacing will help that a bit too.

I’m not saying he’s gonna be healthy for sure or that it’s not a concern

But porzingis is absolutely not similar to wemby in terms of their fluidity and how light they are on their feet lmfao
