It's more than 38 cause a lot of those assists are to Battier, Chalmers, and Allen for 3.

Very true. I wonder if assists on threes are tracked anywhere as a separate stat. If not they should be, it would be pretty interesting.

They break assists down by shot location AND have a stat (AST+) that accounts for threes.
*Note that the 2013 season isn't complete yet. They have 71 of his 73 games listed.
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Per BBR's play by play data, Lebron gets 2.37 points per assist.

Speaking of data whatever happened to that RAPM guy? He hasn't updated it for this season at all. :/

Lebron's said he's sitting out the rest of the sesaon. That's two seasons in a row he misses his 2000/500/500 mark; only has 1964 points this season.

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Also, at 73 games he'll have played 89% of the full Regular Season, the lowest of his career.

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Scratch that. He's sitting out after tonight. So 2000 is still in play and it'll be 74 games, 90% which is still the lowest of his career.
If he gets 2000 tonight, he has 7 2000/500/500 seasons over Oscar's 6.

Could he still possibly break the PER record if he has a monster game?

There goes the PER record, or Stockton's 57.4% from the field record for a perimeter player. What an absolute waste.
You didn't see Shaq sitting out when the Lakers were rocking 67-15. MJ played full 82 when the Bulls won 72.
I don't like it from him. Can't see this year as the GOAT peak now when he's doing stuff like this.

So if they go 16-1 in the playoffs, you think people will give a damn about him sitting out of literal meaningless games at the end of the regular season? Get real.

Eh. Doesn't really matter to me. He doesn't become a worse player by sitting out, and that's all I'm really concerned with. Season vs. Peak are two different categories to me. 2009 is a more impressive season, but 2010 James is a better player. Similarly, Shaq in 2000 had a better season than in 2001, but you could argue that he was a better player in 01. When I'm thinking about most impressive seasons of all time, I'm not using the same criteria as I would for best peaks of all time. There's a distinction, and if you're working with the former, then I can see where you're coming from.
Ultimately, these games are essentially meaningless. I can't punish him for sitting out these games when the reason he's able to do so is because he was so exceedingly brilliant in the games he DID play in. Furthermore, if this rest enables him to better perform in the playoffs, that's beneficial to Miami's championship aspirations. This is a POSITIVE in my mind, NOT a negative.
Also, he needs a ~61 PER tonight to take the single season record. My guess is that Spoelstra limits his minutes again. My guess is also that Lebron is aware of the 2000 point benchmark. He needs 36 points tonight to get to that mark, and it wouldn't surprise me if he comes out gunning to try to hit that in limited minutes. If he manages to top 36 points and gets 5-6 boards and assists, doesn't turn the ball over very much, and plays 28-30 minutes, he's going to be in the realm of a 65 PER game. Not likely, but there's a small chance. TBH though it seems like a pointless thing to worry about. It is pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things, and he'll always have a shot again next season. Personally I'm much more interested in seeing if he can approach his 09 playoff mark again, with a relatively different playstyle. THAT would be something.

He just said that he is not going to play in all of the remaining games. I assume that he will play in at least 2-3 of them.

Ahh, then its misinterpretation on my part. Seemed to me that he was going to rest in the remaining games.

23/7/5/2/1 on 9-12 in 23 minutes so far. Not a bad start.

He's pacing for a 45-50 PER game as of right now. 4th quarter remaining.

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
I think Lebron is starting to reach his potential. He's almost played Brandon Jennings to a standstill. That's one of the top 25 PGs in the game, and Lebron is almost outplaying him. Hopefully with more teams tanking near the end of the season Lebron can put up some more of these great performances.
