With the 139th pick, the Rethymno Cretan Kings select Evan Fournier.

Image

He can put the ball on the floor and create his own shot. He can create shots for his teammates. He can shoot the 3. He can even run the PnR. He's scoring 1.04 PPP as a PnR ball handler this season which ranks in the 91th percentile! He was amazing during the Olympics averaging 18.7 points, 3.2 rebs and 2.5 assists on 45.5% from the field, 37.8% from 3 and 83.3% from the FT line. France beat the US in the group stages, but lost in the gold-medal game. He's now stuck in a bad situation in NY. I'd argue he was the best player remaining on the board.

PG: Luka - Derrick White
SG: Brown - Derrick White
SF: Hayward - Fournier
PF: Anunoby - Cam Johnson
C: Capela - Christian Wood

Avdija and Wagner are great defenders to have on the bench but with both standing at 6'9 they might not be the best equipped to handle quick, smaller guards. I've found someone who can do exactly that, while also being a decent offensive player.

De'Anthony Melton

My key focus in matchups now is having another competent center to throw at Embiid and Jokic.
That's why I take Ivica Zubac

Rotation (8 players currently):
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander / Tyrese Maxey
Desmond Bane / CJ McCollum
Paul George
Jaren Jackson Jr / PJ Washington
Bam Adebayo

Five great defensive guys on the starting lineup (...) Bane having enough length to help with defense on forwards (...)

Bane isn't overly athletic and he has T-Rex arms (6'5'' w/o shoes, 6'4'' wingspan). His defense leaves a lot to be desired. That said, he's a versatile offensive player. He can create his own shot. He can create shots for his teammates. He can play on or off the ball. I like his game a lot!

You are full of switchable/versatile defenders, but you lack an elite on-ball defender who can stay in front of explosive ball handlers on the perimeter. For instance, you could have used a guy like De'Anthony Melton. I think you gotta come up with a plan on how to defend players like Ja Morant, LaVine, Fox, etc. Or even undersized guards who are less talented but uber explosive.

Other than that, I like your team a lot!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Btw, I'd love to hear some feedback on my team too. Any striking weaknesses?

I was considering drafting Melton for the exact same reason: I have a team full of switchable defenders. Was wondering whether I should draft an elite point-of-attack defender. Opted for White cause he can do both whereas Melton is an on-ball specialist. Was considering Melton with my 9th pick, but I figured it would have been a bit of an overkill to draft them both.

For instance, you could have used a guy like De'Anthony Melton. There are still a couple of great on-ball defender on the board, but I'm not sure they are good enough to get selected. Unlike Melton, they are very limited offensive players. I think you gotta come up with a plan on how to defend explosive ball handlers like Ja Morant, LaVine, Fox, Anthony Edwards, etc. Or even undersized guards who are less talented but uber explosive.

I've added since this post RJ Barrett as well. Although I think Shai and Maxey are both great guard defenders (Bane as well), he's also a great defender, maybe a bit underrated as such.

Barrett is a 6'6'' wing. He can switch on wings and swings. Don't think he can stay in front of uber explosive guards on the perimeter.

SGA is a versatile combo guard, but he's rather lethargic on defense. I would argue he's a poor man's Doncic. He relies on skill rather than on athleticism. Don't think he can switch on explosive guards either.

Agree to disagree on Bane. Fwiw, the advanced stats portray him as a below average defender. No stat should be taken at face value, but I believe they are usually helpful. Feel free to disregard them if you don't like analytics.

Maxey is probably your best bet as a point-of-attack defender. Still, he's nothing special as a defender. He's more of an offensive-minded player.

How about we run 12 rounds like was the original plan? Plenty of binkies of mine are still on the board! Can't possibly draft all of them! :D

I'm in favor of adding more rounds, this is fun and the league is still deep :)
