Hmm then I think it's the opposite, the number 1 pick kinda gets screwed after it's first pick. But if it has worked in past drafts, it's fine.

If it's an all-time league with everyone eligible (especially if you're using a one year peak), I'd still bet on the earlier-to-middle round pick to win even with the ABBB format. But I definitely think this format makes it more competitive.

So the format basically goes:

Round 1: a,b,c,d,e
Round 2-10: e,d,c,b,a

Am I getting that right?

I don't have experience with this draft style but if it makes it more competitive then I'm all for it.

Okay we have 16 players. We can either wait for a few more if people want, or start as soon as everyone and everything is ready.

Some things need to be set:

-Draft style? ABBB or snake-style? I'm down for either. Have no experience with the first, but if it makes the draft more competitive, I lean towards that one.
-Time allowed to make a draft pick.
-Minimum amount of games played to choose a year for your drafted player. 75%? In an 82 game season, 75%=62 games. In the 99 lockout, 75%=38 games. 12 lockout, 75%=50 games.
-Any other questions that need to be ironed out can also be brought up.

I'm guessing the later rounds will be ABABA

Are we going to specify the year of the player when we draft?

Either that or at the start of the playoffs. I don't want to be switching years series to series. So you can either specify it when you draft or if you're undecided, you can wait. But you gotta declare before the start of the playoffs.

What rules would the "games" be played under?

We have 16, trying to keep it even. If one more person wants to, then you both are welcome to make it 18.

If it is more than 16 teams (and less than 32) there would have to be byes in some rounds (or another knock-out system). Either way, a head-to-head elimination tournament works only with numbers that are powers of 2.

I suppose MisterHibachi means 2013. Besides, it isn't really 'very different' than 2004. No handchecking isn't such a big difference as many people make it out to be. Pre 1979 is 'very different' but between 2004 and 2013, the difference is fairly negligible as there weren't any MAJOR changes to the game made back then.

This, and I pray to God that I get to play CaliBullsFan in one of my matchups. We disagree on so many topics that I'm sure it'd be fun. :D

Ok, so I understand the draft order to be ABCDE, then EDCBA for the next 9 rounds?

How do we put together a draft order? Randomize it?

Just put that into a randomizer. We can go with that order if you want.

Oh, by the way - it's pretty interesting to see how low (yeah, it's better to put it this way rather than 'how high') Iverson will be drafted. He's so disrespected by many guys on this board that building a team around him isn't going to sway anyone to help your case here, and we all know that making him a complementary player, or a sixth man, isn't the Answer.

I know for sure that I won't take him. Not because I think he sucks (I think he's greatly underrated, I have him as my #6 SG of all-time), but because trying to convince anyone that he's good is just too much for my nerves. :)

All I have to say is...

You better watch out for my Charles Barkley style drafting
