He looked so out of sync for most of the game, but you look up and he has 38/9/8 in his first game back from injury

40/9/8 Points on 60 TS% and team lead in +/-

According to your logic, Tim Duncan doesn't deserve any respect.

Hey dont hate on green either

Dude was one steal away from the mythical 5/5/5/5/5, except he had 21/9/5/7/4 on 78 TS% ( screw society's arbitrary standards this was a sick game ) , curry is still a god but this situation is a lot like 2001 Shaq/Kobe, most people have shaq hiher but kobe was pretty close to his level and him outplaying shaq some nights wasnt a crazy rarity

They seem to be on the same level.
Even with Curry carrying the team, Draymond ended the game with:
21 points (78% TS)
9 rebounds
5 assists
4 steals
7 blocks
2 turnovers.
It's ridiculous that these 2 monsters are on the same team.

Curry was 11/19 for 29 points in the 2nd half and OT.

Green's defense is still absolutely insane. He's not on Curry's level but damn he impresses me more and more every time I watch him

Re: Re: Re: The Stephen Curry Thread (2015-16 Pt. 2)
Yeah im not in the Draymond>Steph group but i dont see how this game is supposed to make the comparison laughable. Its much of the same dynamic between the two all season. Stephs Goat level scoring, Draymonds Goat level versatility/allaround. Draymond was absolutely incredible especially defensively down the stretch with foul trouble. Its not like Steph had a good defensive game either. Draymond, Iggy and Klay were really the only Warriors who played great defense tonight and Draymond honestly is the best defender in the league to me at this point. Kawhis great but his utility on defense isnt on Draymonds level, he doesnt do as much.

When Steph started to go off, you could see the look of resignation in the Blazers before the last three.
It was Stringer Bell resignation. "Get on with it, m".
Dagger.

Re: The Stephen Curry Thread (2015-16 Pt. 2)
I've been thinking about something since the Warriors game against the Thunder early this year. "That" game. And as much as I love to watch what Steph does, and enjoy the spectacle, its kind of bull **** tbh.
You shouldn't be able to walk down the court and casually just chuck from 4 feet beyond the line with a guy all over you and it goes in, repeatedly and consistently. I don't think that's how basketball was intended to be played, and it can't be how it was intended to be won.
I know that doesn't matter. The game has changed so much from its inception its silly to argue about how its supposed to be played or won. It is what it is. I'm just saying something about it seems...off...on a fundamental level, and as much as I enjoy it and can cheer for Curry and the Warriors, its starting to bother me to a small extent.
I don't know. I'm not saying its wrong or he should be banned or something. Its obviously awesome and entertaining. Just doesn't feel fair in the spirit of the game sometimes.
But whatever. Just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts. Definitely a once in a lifetime player to be appreciated to the fullest extent possible.

It's funny, didn't people say similar things about Shaq and how he used to just overpower defenders?
I think people have an issue with a player being so good at a particular skill that it makes other skills almost superfluous, and that they're so good at that particular skill that they're the best in the game because of it. Almost seems like a cheat code that keeps getting spammed.
I can definitely understand the feeling.

And MJ's speed and so forth, and Wilt's size. "Nobody likes Goliath..." even if he's 6'3.
It's a fairly annoying sentiment to me, personally. I mean, people are entitled to their opinion on how they view the game and I'll never try and force someone to enjoy the aesthetic of the game because of my own principles, it just seems odd and strange to me that people complain about watching greatness in action. It's as if they want greatness... but only so much of it. It's very 2000s, you know? It's very "mercy rule" and "everyone gets a trophy" kinda deal.
We're watching history. And yes, like every other player in the league who has dominated to a similar extent, he's shaping a generation of players who want to be like him, coaches who want to replicate what he's produced. That'll ebb eventually, when people realize that the talent prerequisite to his playing style isn't something you can summon out of nowhere. I should point out that league average offense isn't actually any better than what we've seen over the last decade. It's actually not even at an all-time high, and we have more than one team showing us that effective to very good offense can be built with non-standard, or even older principles of basketball. The Thunder, for example, were the second-best offense in the league during the RS and the top offensive rebounding team, the only team at or over 30% ORB in the league... which used to be far, far more common. They were still an above-average defense, and transition D isn't really killing them on the basis of how they crash the boards. The Spurs? 25th in 3Pr this year, but 4th overall in team offensive efficacy.
So again, we're seeing examples of how you can build contemporary offenses without spamming the hell out of the 3, and we'll eventually see a reaction to the wild inconsistency of non-Steph/Klay 3pt-heavy offenses... just like we've been watching for years in James Harden and Houston.
Steph's the reigning MVP and about to make it the "2-time reigning MVP" while he looks for his second consecutive ring. As the focal star on a team like that, MVP, scoring champ, the whole deal? Everyone's eyes are on him and they all want to be him. He's the next "THAT GUY" in the league whom people are attempting to emulate, both players and coaches. That doesn't last forever, but it does influence the league until strategy evolves again.

You've picked wrong game to say that. Curry was amazing tonight, but so was Green, especially with his defense. He contested 25 shots, opponents shot just 1/9 at rim against him... his defense was just as impressive as Curry's scoring, but of course not so fun to watch (I literally laughed after threes Curry made in OT).
