Gasol I think would be a very good get.

8th in D-PIPM
10th in DRPM
6th in DRAPTOR

Should have been an all-NBA defense candidate. Defensive BBall IQ is 95th %ile+ and he’ll be a plus defender until he’s 40.

Shot 39.7% on wide open threes last year.

His shot was awful in the playoffs, but other than that, Gasol at the 5 would be a steal for the Lakers and make them better offensively and defensively than with McGee or Howard (give up the lob threat that Hoaward and McGee are, open up driving lanes for James).

Signing a non guaranteed (vet minimum) deal to back up Embiid is strange. He projected to start for the Lakers on a 3.1 million dollar to start (two year deal).

Lakers must have pulled the offer to save their coin for an MLE big.

Yeah people jumping on Dwight for this but I have a feeling he’s the one that got screwed.

Surprised he had no market only taking a non Guaranteed deal

U guys sure non guaranteed? I read it was now guaranteed

I hope it is guaranteed.

This just seems sad for Dwight.

MONTREZ???? WTF ARE WE DOING ROB

I'm legit confused. He isn't a defensive big like Dwight. He isn't a floor spacer like Marc or Ibaka. He is a pick and roll scorer....that is why we have AD

Makes no sense. Has to be the Klutch connection. Would have preferred Tristan Thompson

I mean tbf dwight literally only matters vs jokic, and we figured things out on offense midway through vs them too

Ehh idk about just Jokic, he is still great defensively in the paint and great on the offensive boards

I really dislike this loss

If we get Marc, Ibaka, or even Baynes, fine. But Dwight signed for the min...

Wish Mcgee opted out or we had moved him, he was useless vs good teams. Somehow a 7 foot center can't get offensive rebounds and he has pretty low iq in terms of positional defense

I more mean that hes a good backup but in the playoffs hes only gonna matter vs jokic overall imo. Hes obv a good player and idk why he signed for the minimum, but outside of the denver series he was playing like 10 minutes a game

LA's defense is gonna take a big hit. McGee and Harrell can't be your two centers

On the bright side he'll be pretty good trade bait if things don't work out

I don't love the player but I do like the contract. He was in line for way more before Jokic worked him in the playoffs, and that will be less of an issue on the Lakers.

Would’ve rather had Ibaka but for the price this is a good move. Our bench scoring wasn’t great last year and now we have two 6MOY quality guys coming in. AD will be able to cover Harrell’s deficiencies on defense, and this hurts the Clippers’ depth. With the shortened offseason we needed guys who can shoulder some of the offensive load during the regular season and I think they’ve done that so far.

I guess AD can probably cover for Harrell's weaknesses defensively but Dwight and another floor spacing big would've covered their last roster hole. Gasol would've been perfect

What people don't understand about his defense is he should never have been matched against Boban and jokic in the first place. Doc was just a friggin idiot. Even AD had troubles with Jokic, you need a defensive bigman specialist to contain him

I don't like the deal for the Lakers but there's no denying they just added a cool 40ppg to their bench

Seems like a weird use of resources. He'll probably help in the regular season but he won't be on the floor when it matters in the playoffs.

Didn’t even consider signing Harrell. I actually like it. Dude was still 6moty even if he was atrocious in the playoffs.

Looks aside, he’s a way better player than TT. Jokic raped him, cool. Besides that he had a really high level season.

Am slightly worried about the Lakers defense though. Losing some good pieces and getting meh defenders

What you mean?

Who is guarding Jokic now?

Where is Boogie going now?

I really don’t get this move
