Pelinka is such a low iq gm, but why do I feel like we may luck into something

Imagine if Kyrie got cut and he came here

Kyrie, Beverly, Troy Brown, Lebron, AD
Russ, Reaves, Lonnie, JTA?, Bryant
Dennis, Nunn, Ryan, Gabriel

Then also ship Russ or trade some combo of the guards and other filler for at least a wing and either a sg who can shoot or a C

It's a pretty damn sad roster. There is 4.5 players that would play in a playoff rotation.

All-NBA: James, AD
Borderline Starter: Russ
Rotation Player (7-9th Man): Walker, Beverley (out of respect for what he did last year but he hasn't played like one this year)
Extended Rotation (10-12th Man): Brown (maybe? I'm being generous)
Garbage Time: Reeves, Nunn
Shouldn't be on roster (2 way guys): Everyone else

Contrast this to the championship roster
MVP-level: James, AD
Borderline Starter: KCP, Green,
Rotation Player (7-9th Man): Rondo (played a level up in the playoffs), Dwight, Caruso, Kuzma
Extended Rotation (10-12th Man): Markieff, Javale (played a level up in the RS)

Suffering from extreme lack of talent and poor fit.

If James and AD played on an all NBA level this team would've been 5-5 minimum

Drop James and AD, move up Reeves.
I don’t think either are top 15 players which is what All-NBA implies.

Interesting layout. I made some changes but it really does highlight that the Lakers are missing 3 starter-level players that can support their stars.

Stars: James, AD
Non-star starters: Nothing
Rotation Player (6-8th Men): Russ, Reaves, Beverley
9-11th Men (RS rotation 20+ mins, playoff spot minutes): Walker, Schroeder, Bryant

Stars: James, AD
Non-star starters: KCP, Green, Dwight
Rotation Player (6-8th Men): Rondo, Caruso, Kuzma
9-11th Men (RS rotation 20+ mins, playoff spot minutes): Markieff, McGee, Bradley

Rob Pelinka put together this team and was awarded an extension for it. Jeanie should be banned from the NBA.

Even the head coach is saying Jeanie isn’t willing to spend money to win. Why the hell did LeBron sign an extension with this bum *** franchise?

Really just stolen from Thinking Basketball and modified to my view.
I have a higher bar for a True Starter on every team (someone like OG Anunoby) they aren't a sub All-Star but clearly a starter (they are finishing the game).
I group everyone else as a 6th man/ Borderline starter. Depending on the team make up they start/ finish the games.

Also I don't think Reaves is playing 15-20 min per game on a real playoff team. He's next category down. Walker with his athleticism and wing size (defense) would IMO.

I'm not overreacting to this season yet. It's only been 10 games. They are both in that level of player (borderline 3rd team right now). Davis has actually been the 3rd best center in the league IMO (he's 10th in PER) not that people would vote for him but I've heard people say he should be in the DPOY convo despite how bad the Lakers are.

They kind of have been. That's the point.
24-9-7 and 23-10 with 4 stocks is a "3rd team" level of player basically (think Bradley Beal scoring champion level of guy). They need to be MVP Candidates (pushing for 1st team) for this team to actually be a playoff roster.

With Towns at the PF and Gobert off to a bit of a slow start, I certainly see AD as a top 4 center so far this season, could see an argument for 3 or 4, but can't see him over Jokic or (surprise) Siakam so far. Embiid hasn't been so hot to start the season.

Meh, I could ask the same question of you. Never have I seen as many ‘fans’ upset about a ring as I did in 2020.

Jeannie and Pelinka are objectively incompetent and the results prove it. Not sure how this is a topic worth questioning people's fandom over.

To me the clearly the reason LeBron signed the extension is not because he didn't want to lose control of where he plays. If he didn't sign the extension the Lakers certainly would be looking to trade him right, and he didn't have a NTC so he could have been shipped off anywhere.

Part of it was definitely a bet on the Lakers being decent this season sure, but the majority of it was an attempt to keep control of where he plays. I don't think he ever anticipated them being quite this bad but regardless it's probably preferred to being traded off to Utah or Minnesota or Phoenix or wherever.

Sure, and when he left cleveland incompetent front office in 2010 he got the most **** ever for it...damned if you do, damned if you dont

If lebron left the lakers for their incompetence he would be blamed right now for jumping ship, if he didnt sign a extension he would be **** on for not taking a extension and not giving lakers any breathing room of knowing he will stay

And Lebron was the best player on their last championship team. Your point. And your logic is off. His signing with the Lakers has nothing at all to do with their incompetence and bad decisions. It's the front office to blame. Sure, you can say he was dumb for signing with them, but he is not to blame for their mistakes. That's just goofy. But, I realize your probably a Kobe fanboy, so you have to hate on James, for some reason.
