You really think they can carry all that junk? I suppose with healthy AD playing like 2020 it's possible.

in regards to the nets' collapse, i'm already seeing fans overrate how good/promising the 2019 nets were. not surprising but a core of levert/d'lo/dinwiddie/allen was never winning anything meaningful lol

Not to piss on the parade here, but I'm just surprised that anyone is still this excited about their team getting Kyrie after what he's done to every team he's played for in his career.

I also can't think of a worse combination of ownership/management + player than the Lakers' front office and Kyrie.

I applaud them for it, just like I gave the Sixers props for playing hardball with Simmons. It's about time that teams started standing up for themselves and their fanbases instead of just rolling over. I think most reasonable people agree that this "player empowerment" stuff has gotten a little out of control and that the health of the league depends on getting back to a more sensible middle ground between teams and players. Maybe more teams following the Sixers' and Nets' lead could help us get there.

Bro I’d get rid of Westbrook for a rotation player on the Shanghai sharks at this point I see this as an absolute W

Yep you and I disagreed a bit on how we perceived what getting KD/Kyrie meant(I saw more downside, while understanding the upside was championship(s)), but obviously you absolutely sign them again even knowing how its playing out now. That core was pretty much at its ceiling. Allen had some growth in him, but you weren't ever going to contend with that group.

I get it as a principled stand but do you think this could affect their ability to get future FAs? Especially for Brooklyn where they have the advantage of big market + deep pocketed owner

The fact that Westbrook is such negative value that I’d rather have Kyrie for the max than for the tpmle is a tragedy lol

If Kyrie is opting out doesn't that mean Westbrook is still on the Lakers?

Well, you could argue that any top free agent who gets offended by this is sparing the Nets a lot of future drama and headaches by making it obvious upfront that they'd be another Kyrie/KD type, rather than a more mature and team-oriented player.

I honestly might rather have Westbrook at this point. All the flak he gets just for missing shots is downright quaint compared to what Kyrie does to his teams.

Ehh I’d assume it ends up being a three teamer, if Kyrie comes I doubt the nets continue this stance of not getting anything in return or it’s really bad asset management

Kyrie can be kinda heinous but the fact that Lebron and AD don’t mess with russ and the feeling is mutual at this point makes him basically trash on the court and a bomb off of it

At least Kyrie the drama is funny

It either goes really well and we become a top contender or it goes horribly and it’s really funny

I'm way more interested in where KD ends up at this point. If he can get added to a team that already has a strong foundation and a good system in place, that could totally change the competitive landscape (where have I seen this movie before  )
