Demonstrates exactly why ex-ballplayers, even if they have great BBIQ (like Reggie), don't necessarily make good coaches/analysts.

This is what it's like to play with Kyle Korver:

Kenny Smith talking about how Steph's 10-29 is misleading because of his volume of threes and FT shooting.

Barkley talking about how the bigger picture was: 4th GSW Q lineup drove the comeback/offensive rebounding.

Analytics! Without even knowing it.

I'm guess unlikely. His name isn't being thrown out for starters, but beyond that he's known as a defensive guru and OKC needs an offensive one. Yeah maybe Thibs could go into an interview and show he's a guru at both, but it seems unlikely that Presti would already be assuming this.

Interestingly though I'm seeing some OKC fans dismiss Thibs not for this reason but rather based on a feeling that Thibs is somehow on a level with Brooks. Weird given that one is one of the most important innovators in recent history known for getting solid success even with a team depleted of stars due to injury, and the other is Brooks.

I think some are concerned with how Thib's minute management would effect Durant. How big of an issue is that in reality?

Ask Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose...

Random question - do you guys think that LeBron will retire when he's still a star/superstar, like Jordan in 1998, or will he stay in the league as a role player? Personally, I can't fathom him being willing to continue playing when he's no longer a star, but I might be wrong...

Yeah, especially with Doc coaching them. They could really use someone with Paul's leadership and playoff experience.

No, I think LeBron will keep playing as long as he's playing at an all-star level. Can't really see him retiring in a few years, but I don't think he'll just stick around as a role player.

I think he will retire when he is around 35 years old. Hopefully, his body (his back more specifically) will hold up. LeBron is smart and knows how to give some rest to his body, but he is playing so much since the first time he got into the Playoffs.

It is incredible the fact that he has already played more RS minutes than Bird, Magic, at 30 years old.

^ I don't know how much any of you have paid attention to Aminu this year, but this guy is very quietly turning into a really interesting defensive player. He's been the Mavs best shot blocker the 2nd half of the year, he guards 2-4 pretty effectively, he is a real factor on the glass, etc. Still have no idea how the Pelicans who needed a SF just let him walk and no idea how he ended up on a minimum contract this year. Yes, he has serious limitations as an offensive player in terms of his shooting, but he is like a poor man's Matrix is so many ways.

As a MAvs fan I hoping his tweener status keeps him from getting big offers again. He should be a 3 on defense and a 4 on offense(which works just fine in combo with Dirk and Parsons coincedentally enough). But man is that kid fun to watch.

And of course I am a huge JJB stan--guy isn't really very talented, but he gets every ounce of his ability out and just plays so hard all the time. Glad to see him have another good game. I'm fine with he and Monta just going 48 on Tuesday. Aminu too for that matter.

^ I know the rockets give the mavs problems athletically overall, but I think aminu should've been on harden much earlier in the series. At least you limit his ability to make plays for others as freely as he was before. And felton just isn’t in good enough shape to be in an NBA game right now. Barea should’ve been getting the bulk of his minutes. A little surprised carlisle didn’t make those changes sooner.

Agreed. He got outcoached imo in the first 2 games which I never expected. The change to having Dirk guard Ariza most of the time while letting Aminu or even Jefferson take the PF made a difference as well. Dirk is just such a liability in the PNR and Ariza hasn't been hitting his shots. That move needed to have been made by game 2.

And I understood the idea of Rondo guarding Harden to start, which makes it hard to start Aminu as well because of spacing issues, but once Rondo got kicked, last nights lineup was really the only option imo. Like you say, Felton isn't healthy and he didn't play all year and Jefferson clearly isn't healthy either. Plus Aminu is the only guy we have with the ability to even make Harden work.

Its one of the reasons I thought Dallas would have been better off against the Spurs in round 1 even tho I think the Spurs are a superior team to the Rockets. Dallas has always struggled with athletic teams.

IMO Thibs, Carlisle and Pop have been coaching badly so far in these playoffs. The coaching overall from both conferences has been poor Monty, Casey, Stotts.... Its hilarious to say but Mchale and Wittman have been two of the best ones. Kidd is one of the best coaches in the league now love the job hes done w/ the Bucks. Brad Stevens will cement himself as the best coach in the league next season 8-)

Did anybody just see that bizarre exchange between Paul and Griffin? Live ball, Paul yelled something at him and then tried to lead him with the ball and almost threw it out of bounds. Looked like he almost tried to kick him or something as well. Happened at 7:50, just before the timeout. No idea what that was about.

Was that in the back court, off a defensive rebound, with Splitter with them?
