Kyrie was incredible and unstoppable. Luka was able to get Gobert away from the rim with P&R enough to inhibit Minnesota's defense, which really had no answer as Towns/Reid aren't able to provide secondary rim protection. Kyrie being one of the only offensive players in the NBA who can routinely finish around Gobert when he is in the paint was just the icing on the cake for the Mavericks offense.
Then, on top of that, Luka show 43% from 3 on > 10 3PA/G.
Good insights.

It doesn't. Who is even close to Gobert?
Regard OPOY, the running is Jokic and SGA I assume? I think all of them have a good case while Jokic and Luka had some "poor" series [Jokic vs Minnesota and Luka vs Boston]. Boston is probably the best team...ever...at containing a win with the combination of different looks and switchability. Minnesota has a roster which if extremely effective at taking away the dunker's spot again Jokic, which Jokic used as his bread-and-butter for efficient offense.
Gobert seems pretty cemented in stone at this point, but I see 3 players in the same tier as Luka, with Haliburton/Brunson a not-so-distant 4th.
Re: Who would be close enough to Gobert for it to be mattered that literally every other playoff opponent handled Dallas better than Gobert's team? So, it's a thing for me. Hard for me to get my head around giving the guy a DPOY when his team gets wrecked in the playoffs because of disappointing defense.
To be clear: I'm not saying I won't vote Gobert #1. The hang-up I describe is not a gigantic part of the equation, but it's not nothing.
In terms of who else is on my mind:
Bam
Wemby
White/Holiday
Feel free to tee off arguing for Gobert over them.
Re: OPOY, yeah seems like we're in agreement. I'll probably have Luka/Jokic/Shai in some order, but Brunson & Haliburton are guys I think about too.
Can I vote? It said to quote you sorry for barging in
No need to apologize, and nothing personal, but I'd say you need to participate more in the future to be able to be voter. If you want to talk to me more about this, PM me.
Thank you for understanding,
