Maybe emotions level was higher during that BOS-CHI series, because of overtimes, but quality of basketball played was better in LAC-SAS. In fact not many series in history, any round, were better than this one.

Yeah agreed. Both of these teams being basically strong title contenders in any normal season really elevates this series in my eyes. Game 7 was the single best basketball game I've seen since G6 of the 2013 Finals. You're right, this could legitimately be one of the best series ever played.

Yeah, probably a fair assessment. I'm somewhat biased, though.

Re: PC Board OT thread
When a team doesn’t show up like the rockets last night, people jump ahead of themselves and claim the series is over. And I always come back to The Memorial Day Massacre:

Suffice to say, lakers went on to win the series in 6 games. Ain’t over til it’s over. That said, I did pick the clippers in 7.
[In game 1 of the 85 finals] The Celtics beat the Lakers 148-114 in a game that came to be known as the "Memorial Day Massacre." The game was a profound embarrassment for the Lakers. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had only 12 points and 3 rebounds in his matchup with Robert Parish, and Magic Johnson pulled down only one rebound. Danny Ainge of the Celtics started hot, scoring 15 points in the first quarter. Scott Wedman made all 11 shots he took from the field. Afterwards, Abdul-Jabbar apologized to his teammates for his terrible performance.

My co-author calls me “Terminator”, and I see where he’s coming from.

With Simmons out, what happens to Grantland and 30 for 30? Looks like they're both ESPN properties, but I wonder what kind of direction they'll take.
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

I think Grantland might become ESPN's full blown click-bait property. Even with Simmons there they have become pretty much a pop culture website rather than a mix of sports AND pop culture. Outside of Lowe, Goldsberry and Barnwell they don't really have much sports content. The site was becoming a bit too "hipster-ish" IMO as it is, not that there's anything wrong with that
30 for 30 I think will continue to thrive. I also think Simmons will take that idea with him and where ever he lands will probably be making sports documentaries right away since those will be money makers.
I think he's going to have his pick with Yahoo, Fox, CBS, TNT/Bleacher Report, HBO etc.
Even someone like Google might be interested in him as he's a one man click army.

I'm pretty sure Simmons keeps Grantland and they keep their partnership with ESPN. He's just off TV now.

What do you mean? ESPN owns Grantland and Simmons is no longer gonna work for ESPN after his contract runs out. He will have nothing to do with Grantland once he leaves ESPN.

I was thinking of it being like record labels maybe. For example if Drake was dropped from Universal he's still signed with Young Money. I could be wrong.

Yeah, that's certainly not the case here. ESPN own Grantland and 30 for 30. Simmons isn't going to be able to use those names once he's outta there. The President of ESPN even said in his statement that Grantland will continue to function without Simmons.
I actually think it will be interesting to see where he lands. I am expecting him to go somewhere where he gets full creative control and won't have to be PC because of ESPN.

Interesting... something I never really thought about with him, but makes sense considering how much worse ESPN's NBA coverage is compared to TNT and NBA TV.
