Neither do I, which is why I'm interested in learning how this order was determined. It's his list so he can rank people however he wants, but it has such an unusual ordering that I am curious as to how he ranked them the way he did.

I don't particularly care who people rank where on their personal GOAT lists, as it's their prerogative and it's subjective anyway, but I confess that I am curious as to the reasoning behind Havlicek being #5, as it's actually something I haven't seen before.

He is using bball reference hall of fame monitor. He listed his top 100 the other day and it was the same top 100 in the exact order of the hall of fame monitor that bball reference uses.

Bosh over Paul Melo TP and Dwight.
Hakeem out of top 20
Wade above KG
And so much more.
I've been watching basketball for around 1-2 years now and that still looks wrong

I've ranked some Celtics higher than some other folks do, but that list was ridiculous.

So anyhow -- who deserves to move significantly in the rankings since this list was put together? My thoughts start:

1. Lebron was rated too high at the time. But since then he's stopped choking and been generally awesome, and deserves to be ranked far higher than where I then thought he should go.

2. Many active players added to their longevity. Garnett played at high level in the 2011 postseason. Pierce grabbed a PoTM award, and was runner-up for another. Duncan, Wade et al. kept going. Oh yeah -- there's also that guy Kobe.

Duncan higher, Lebron higher. Kobe added more longevity, but it doesn't get him any higher (because the guys he's against all have/had comparable longevity), and he actually drops because he's been overtaken by Lebron who now bounces him out of the 10.

Duncan at 15 is at least as bad. He also has at least 8 PFs in there and no Dirk.

This is probably the worst list I've ever seen, no Kobe, no Dirk, Duncan at 15, Barkley at 12, Baylor at 11 Cunningham at 20. Geez and I thought I've seen it all

-With the way their careers appear to be carved, 1 certainly looks to be right to me. I just can't understate the criticalness of a bad back, but I could be wrong

-Bosh and CP3 have had similar peaks, and it's really close here and things could change, but right now I believe Bosh's playoff impact edges him out, even though CP3 has never been favored to win a playoff series he lost in, and Bosh has been more fortunate with the team he has. I believe Bosh to be a better player than Parker and Anthony, and I just don't see any of these players being better than Bosh then, now, or in the future. Anthony won't get any better, and will not win a title in his prime at the very least, and Paul is physically declining; that meniscus injury/removal's really changed him and is catchin' up to him

-Yes, his dream shake didn't seem to hyptonize me

-Yes, while it hurts me to say this, I believe Flash to marginally be the better player. I personally believe his prime to be underrated around here, and he's the better playoff performer (although I'll admit he didn't deserve that '09 award over James; really just a testament that LeBron is THAT FREAKIN' GOOD )

If James retired today, he'd be around top 15. He's unquestionably on pace to retire top 10, maybe even top 5, I just personally don't think he deserves the praise of top 10 right now

I know we've argued in the past, but can you please tell me why you'd have I Thomas and Pippen and 36 other guys ahead of Nowitzki? I just can't seem to fathom that.

Cousy wouldn't even be an average starter today. I'm willing to rank him Top 40 in the face of that, due to his greatness in his own era, but Top 20 is going too far.

And I have trouble ranking Havlicek much above Scottie Pippen.

It just so happens that the Celtics' current PG is a similar player to Cousy ... and Rondo is superior to him in almost every aspect of the game, their strengths and weaknesses alike. Rondo is a better dribbler and passer, a better shooter, a much better rebounder, and a much better defender.

The usual ways. There is a little bit of video available from those days. There also are some stats. And there are certain things Rondo does that would be physically impossible using Cousy's body.

That said, it's all an opinion rather than high-certainty knowledge.
