May I ask, do you have some of the late 70s and early 80s Bulls footage? I'd love to see more of Gilmore footage from that time. Mickey Johnson is also very intersting player :)

Other than that low-quality Game 3 '77, I do have that Blazers game from '78. I agree that Mickey Johnson was a very interesting player, quite a favorite

What game is that from 1978?

Never saw that game before, it's pretty hard to find anything from that series, so I'm glad I found that game 6 (last game of the series).

Damn, Horny was REALLY good in his prime. Better than I thought.

An up and down intense series with two very difficult arenas to play in. I'm sure I was biased by the orange colors and the fact that they were playing in Phoenix, but those games looked like they were played at like 90 degrees indoors. I was at both games 1 and 2 in P-Town. Porter and KJ really went at it the entire series. Clyde was a bit off shooting especially in game 6.

This is cool because the NBA clearly has their own footage from angles and closeups not used on TV. And oh man that dunk by Jordan at the end!

Never saw that game before. Small screen window kinda sucks, but it's still great to see.

I have this game with bigger window (and without "modern" breaks with Frazier and that commentator) and can upload it tomorrow if you want.

I saw this game with bigger frame too. But it was a few years ago, probably it was removed.

BTW, does anybody have steals, blocks and turnovers stats for this game? I'm most interested in turnovers mostly - would like to watch this game again, butI don't have enough time right now...

Some parts of the game are missing in 2nd half, but not many minutes (8 pts were scored during that time):

Code: Select all

STL   BLK   TOV   +/-   F DRAWN   PLAYER
4      0      3      +14   6   Monroe
2      0      2      +15   1   Bradley
2      2      3      +18   3   Reed
3      1      3      +9   4   Frazier
0      0      1      -9   1   Lucas
1      0      3      0   1   Phil
0      0      0      -11   2   Meminger
1      2      1      +10   3   DeBusschere
0      0      7      -19   5   Goodrich
3      1      8      -9   7   Wilt
2      0      3      -15   4   McMillan
2      0      2      -3   3   West
0      0      1      -10   6   Bridges
0      0      1      0   0   Erickson
0      0      0      -4   0   Riley
0      0      2      -8   0   Counts
0      0      1      +5   0   Hairston

Wilt might had 1 or 2 blocks more (difficult to say because of quality of the tape), but definitely not more.

BTW, they tracked turnovers back then, because commentators said, that through 4 first games Lakers had 80 and Knicks 54.

I watched the game and tracked 6 tov for Wilt - 3 three sec. viol., one offensive foul and two steals from Knicks.

By my count it was 8 in just three quarters (including 4 in 3rd, when Knicks built their advantage):

3 - three seconds violation
1 - offensive foul
1 - bad pass
3 - Knicks' players steals (DeBusschere, Frazier and Jackson each one time)

Here are all of them, I guess 2nd one might be arguable, but IMO pass was good, he caught the ball and then it was stolen by DeBusschere (or Frazier? Hard to tell who hit the ball):

Thanks for video. I missed one turnover.

To be fair I don't count the 2nd one for Wilt. He wasn't set and ball was stolen during catchig it. So I'd give him 7 - still big number.

What is interesting is calling three seconds in this era. The only one I'm sure about is during post up situation when he released the ball with finger roll. The one ending with fall away is hard to judge, 3rd one is laughable. He exited the paint a second before the whistle and still commited a turnover.

Guys, I need some help with colleting footage. Can you show me some examples of:

* Artis Gilmore games (Bulls period)
* Adrian Dantley games (Jazz period)
* Moses Malone games (any great games would be nice to see)

Great quality, thanks. I really like late 70s Bulls teams with Van Lier, Johnson and Artis. This gamewinner was amazing though.

The more I've seen Artis in the Bulls, the more I think he's at his best here. He was much more polished scorer than in Colonels, was still very active on defense and he looks stronger than before. Spurs Gilmore clearly declined physicaly, though he was still by far the strongest player in the league.

Walton really couldn't handle Gilmore's sheer strength down low. I've always thought that the only players in disscusion for the strongest player ever are Wilt and Shaq, but after watching more and more footage of Gilmore from Bulls period I may even say that he's stronger than both. Not as quick or athletic overall and of course less skilled, but his strength is really breathtaking. He moved big guys like Unseld, Kareem or Maurice Lucas like they were children. What is amazing is that he did all those things in a clear way - without offensive fouls, sharp elbows etc. He is really gentle giant and a great person.
