New Mod: Enter the Raven
It is with great pleasure that I welcome rrravenred as our newest mod on the Player Comparisons board.
As regulars already know, raven has been excellent poster on RealGM generally, and the PC board specifically for quite a while. I already consider him to be a community leader, but now it's all official.
Please give rravenred your warmest welcome,
Cheers,
Doc

Re: New Mod: Enter the Raven
There's almost nought that makes me cross.
Thanks Doc (and Howard Mass) for the opportunity to help keep this wonderfully opinionated board rolling. This forum is the best on RealGM, and the quality of posters is testament to the reasons why.
I'm looking forward to working with all of you in keeping the opinions pungent, the fight clean and in making this place fun for everyone to share their opinions, debate their opponents and spruik their heroes.
If any of you have any problems or concerns, feel free to PM me and I'll try to answer all your questions as soon as possible.

Congrats!
Pay no mind to the battles you've won
It'll take a lot more than rage and muscle
Open your heart and hands, my son
Or you'll never make it over the river

Excellent choice, for a board that at times is badly in need of moderation.

Congrats! Definitely well deserved raven, love reading your posts
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

Yay, raven jokes!
Does that mean the forum is dying? rrravenred as a harbinger of doom and decay, whee!

Your Mythos May Vary.

In several Native North American traditions, the raven is either a trickster or a creator.
In the Qu'ran, apparently, the raven teaches Cain to bury a dead body. Appropriate for a mod, no?
In Norse mythology, they were the two companions of Odin, named thought and memory. So, no relation to me, obviously.
In the Talmud, ravens were one of the few animals who copulated on the Ark (look up the graphic details for yourself, this is a family board).

Yeah, and they ate eyes to steal the knowledge of the dead for the All-Father...

Great choice and congrats.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: New Mod: Enter the Raven
Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
'Tis the wind and nothing more!'
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

It means he is a psychopomp, an agent of death sent to our world to guide the souls of the departed into their destiny in the next life.
