Best team minus its best player?

Post#1 » by colts18 » Wed Aug 15, 2012 6:50 am

Which team has the best supporting cast ever. This means minus the best player on the team.

I have the 86 Celtics, 86 Bucks, 89 Pistons, 96 Bulls, 02 Kings as the best casts.

Might be 2013 Lakers...that team minus Dwight is still a contender.

2008 Celtics and 2012 Thunder are probably better without their respective best player (Garnett, Durant) than the 1996 Bulls without Jordan.

good point. The 08 celtics were a 7.11 SRS and 9-2 team without KG. I doubt the Thunder do that without Durant considering they were a 6.44 SRS team with him. That 7.11 SRS is absurd. That makes them a championship contender without KG.

You're insane. The 94 Bulls won 55 games and took the EC Champ to 7 games

Depends on what you classify as best player.

Based on statistics Adrian Dantley was the 88 Pistons best player, so they're obviously the #1 choice here. But in actuality Dantley was not the best player on the team

If we're talking clear cut best player? 86 Celtics

If we consider Kobe the 2013 Lakers best player then definately them. If not the showtime Lakers you take magic off that team and you still have a team of Norm Nixon(averaged 18 and 8 on the lakers) Jamaal Wilkes Bob McAdoo Michael Cooper Kurt Rambis James Worthy Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Even without Kobe, Lakers would probably still be contenders, or close to it.

dont see how this can be this years Lakers at all. No matter which of their players you consider the best. No Kobe leaves a big hole on the wing and leaves you without a closer. No Howard leaves you too soft and thin in the middle. No Nash leaves you without the direction to make all these superstars work. Even Gasol seems pretty essential to the mix.

This. Because the Sixers made the finals two years of out 3 years before Moses came and lost a game 7 in the ECF one year and won 58-60 games yearly before he came.

If Wade was healthy and back to form, then I agree that they're pretty good without LeBron.

If he's not and he plays like he did last year, then no, they're not that good without LeBron.
