Replace LBJ with any player ever on the 07' Cavs...

Post#1 » by DirtyDez » Thu Aug 16, 2012 2:26 am

The 07' Cavs had the worst supporting cast in NBA Finals history. Who would they win a title with instead?

No one.

If it was any player with a chance, Peak Shaq. Cavs lose in 6 with Peak Shaq instead of LeBron vs. Spurs.

Prime 89-93 Jordan

he would have crushed the Spurs while shutting down parker, who destroyed the cavs.. all 4 of those games were very competitive.

lebron was simply horrible. just like he was in 08 vs the celtics, 2010 vs celtics, and 2011 vs mavs.

thats why the GOAT talk is so laughable.

"Peak" Shaq couldn't lead a team like the '07 Cavs anywhere close to a ring w/o a elite SG to close out games, and draw attention away from him. And he ever couldn't outperform/produce Duncan in a playoff series on teams better than the '07 Cavs.

I'll say peak Jordan and Hakeem. They'd both probably still lose the series in LBJ's shoes, because SA was just overall a well oiled machine....but they wouldn't get swept. Probably goes 6 games.

They beat the 41-41 Wizards, 41-41 Nets, and a Ben Wallaceless 52 win Pistons team.

LeBron shot below 43% in 16 of the 20 playoff games and below 40% in 11 of the 20.

There are SEVERAL players that could have won that team the title. They were very close in every single finals game.

The fact of the matter is that LeBron James was nowhere near the player he is today back in 2007.

Nobody. That supporting cast sucked as bad as Jordan's Bulls and Hakeem's Rockets in the 80s, Kareem's Lakers in the mid/late 70s. It's not just lack of talent, but players like 2007 Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden are exactly the type of players that lead to teams who play below their talent, not above

Bron played like crap in the playoffs, you could replace him with a lot of stars and they would at least win a finals game

I don't think it's fair to say he played like crap. He was 22 at the time and he did the best with what he had to work with. Can't forget about that 48/9/7 game at Detroit

Also, I don't know how you can say that last part with so much certainty. Magic has gotten swept, jordan has gotten swept, duncan has gotten swept. Winning games is a lot bigger than the individual

I can think of a decent amount that could take them to the title but I don't think I can find anyone that could win the title though.

That Cavs team reached the Finals only because the East sucked so bad. I don't think anyone could have gotten them over the hump, and I felt that the Spurs were just sort of toying with them, similar to how the Lakers were toying with the Nets in '02. Despite the games being somewhat close, everyone knew how that series would go and the outcome was never really in question.

I doubt anyone wins. But I could see alot of players taking them to the Finals and winning at least 1 or 2 games. Lebron was amazing, but the biggest reason for them getting past the Pistons was cause the Pistons were probably the most complacent, care-free, cockiest team ever relative to how good they actually were. It was amazing to me how much it felt like they just assumed they were going to beat whoever they went up against.

There are plenty of players that could of won considering how close the games were. The cavs win game 1 3 and 4 if Lebron plays average not terrible like he did.
