Jason Kidd because he was able to run a team as the focal point, not sure Westbrook can do that yet.

Kidd got a team with Kenyon Martin as the second best player to the finals two years in a row. I'm a Westbrook fan but there's no way he gets that done.
*I know the east was weak and the west is currently loaded but the point still stands.

Kidd, much better passer obviously, and also a much better defender imo, also probably a better 3 point shooter even in his prime. Westbrook has his advantages, and he's probably underrated here at realgm, but i think Kidd is the relatively easy choice here.

Think some people way overrating Kidd. Although I love him he was one of the more overrated players in the league for me. He was the PG of bad to mediocre offenses most of his career. He spent most of his career not being guarded.
Lets also take note that for many people Marbury was better than Kidd up until they were traded for each other. That thinking changed but Westbrook is a far superior to me to Marbury.
I would have to ask though if Jason Kidd is clearly better than Westbrook then is he clearly better also to healthy Derrick Rose or even in the same ball park of Chris Paul? If you think he is much better than Westbrook then he has to be as good as Paul.
Take it another step. How exactly is Jason Kidd clearly better than even Rajon Rondo? The numbers suggest they are almost the exact same player. Matter of fact the numbers say Jason Kidd should be reevaluated because his numbers look more like Rondo. A guy who put up a bunch of assist on bad offensive teams.
I have said this before. The most overrated player in the league is the pass first PG. Putting the ball in the hands of a player that you don't have to guard usually equals bad offensive basketball. I'm taking Westbrook, Rose, Tony Parker, or Chris Paul right now over Jason Kidd.

Kidd was far better than Rondo. Rondo might be the most overrated NBA player of all time. Those Nets teams would not have gone ANYWHERE with Rondo running the show.
Kidd vs Westbrook depends on what type of player I need. If I need a primary scorer, then obviously go with Westbrook, who's capable of putting up Rose-like numbers as a first option.
If there's already pieces in place, then obviously I'd go with the guy who's much better at running an offense...... Kidd.

At noticeably inferior efficiency... Westbrook is not at all good at finishing. Generating shots, yes, but not hitting them.

Prime Kidd
Closest thing to Magjc Johnson with his size and court vision.

Eh, no? Penny was closer, as is Lebron. Kidd's got more in common with Fats Lever.

Westbrook is Rose-light, I'd admit. But the gap between them isn't huge. Westbrook's not as good, but he has first option capabilities. He just so happens to play Robin to a man who's most likely gonna go down as an all time great offensive force.

What? Westbrook's efficiency isn't far off of Rose's at all. And he's hardly a poor finisher at the rim, around league average last I checked (which is good for a guard).

Lebron's not really "like" anybody. He's his own type of player.
I agree, Penny was the closest we've seen to Magic. Far quicker and more athletic than Magic, with inferior court vision.

Westbrook. Kidd was an atrocious shooter for the majority of his career.

Not relevant; he has more in common with Magic than Kidd, which was my point.

Westbrook has managed 53.8, 53.8 and is currently at 53.5% TS. He is not a good scorer, particularly relative to his volume. He is, generally speaking, not a bright player.
Rose was at 55% TS in 2011, better than Westbrook's career-high by 1.2%.

1 % is the difference maker now? Epsecially the 55% TS were Rose s career high as well!
Rose his last 3 years: 54 % TS
Westbrook last 3 years: 53.7 % TS
Sorry, but your point that Rose is noticeably more efficient is invalid here!
Their shooting splits are also very similar, it is a wash

1.2% is rather small. It's also Rose's career high, so it's not like Rose has a bunch of efficient scoring seasons.
Westbrook is north of league average efficiency on high usage, so your claim that he's not a good scorer reeks of hyperbole.

These comparisons of prime players to guys in there early 20's rarely work. Prime kidd of course. Prime westbrook might be a different story.

Actually, even Rose's MVP season was only +1% over league average, which is non-elite. But Westbrook is worse than Rose typically and his volume reinforces that. Also, 1% is, in fact, a significant difference in efficiency in a sport where marginal differences in offensive efficiency mean a great deal.
