2008 Celtics
Rajon Rondo
Paul Pierce
Perkins
Garnett
Ray Allen

Heat, you know they're team
Celtics went 66-16 that year, so lets say they have homecourt

Celtics in 6, one of the GOAT defenses, did a good job shutting down Lebron in the 08' playoffs.

I have the Celtics winning in 6 or 7.

I think the key to Miami is Chris Bosh.
KG shuts him down.
Then you have 2 big bodies , Pierce and Posey on Lebron.
Allen and Allen on Wade
Celtics played good team defense, can't see Wade or Lebron going off, they will close the driving lanes.
Perkins/KG/Brown/baby/ others would out muscle them down low for rebounds, put backs and a hard foul there or 2.
Celtics have a big 3 of there own.
Celtics in 6

I'd probably say Boston in 6 or 7 games.
I am not sure though.
Pierce outplayed Kobe in that 2008 series and I think Gasol played well below his standards.
If Lebron manages to outplay Pierce and Wade plays better then Gasol which is likely since Wade has always played well against Boston then I would have to imagine the Heat would have a chance to beat them.
Then again Boston did take the Heat to 7 games last year.
So yeah I'd bet on Boston but I do think it is entirely possible the Heat could upset them.

I mean it took Boston 7 games to beat Atlanta and an epic Pierce game 7 to beat a Cavs team with LeBron and mostly scrubs. If it wasn't for a historic collapse by the Lakers in game 4, Boston might not win the championship that year. I'll take the Heat in 7 because LeBron is much better than his 2008 self and has a much better supporting cast.

It's more about match ups.
Heat are rail thin with bigs. Celtics would get more easy baskets imo.
This is a reason why the Lakers missed Bynum in that series.

Good point, even though the Cavs weren't talented they were very good defensively and had decent bigs to bang down low. I gotta give this more thought.

I feel like this is a moot point since the 08 celtics also got taken to 7 games by a worse lebron on a worse team

It all depends on how much KG can dominate. Because and Pierce and Allen ain't doing nothing vs Bron and Wade.

I think the Heat's athleticism and being the younger Big 3 gives them an edge, kind of like having the Hawks advantages who took the C's to 7 games. But this is assuming Wade/Bosh can play closer to their prime levels in the playoffs. LeBron also absolutely hates the KG Celtics and seems like he has taken his game to another level in this rivalry. For some reason I really like Birdman and Shard as roleplayers here too, maybe there's something left in that playoffs tank
Current Heat would also have more experience playing together being defending champs and all

They went 7 games with the Cavs and Atlanta in their first playoff series as a group - and they blew out Atlanta in Game 7 and rolled from there... the 2012 Celtics took the Heat to 7 last year. 08 would do just fine.

Dude please read my post again.Did i say :
"the heat never went to a 7 game series?"
Even though i didnt say such a thing only time they went to 7 games series in big three era was with big two and wade was on one leg.
Of course lebron choking is another story but since we are talking about 2008 celtics vs current heat i am pretty sure both teams healthy miami takes it in 6-7 games.

I'd take the Celtics simply because of their GOAT level defense but Heat do have a good shot.
LeBron sucked against the 08 Celtics but Wade is a killer against those type of defenses, as opposed to Kobe who gets frustrated easily with all the swarming. Also, he now has Bron and Bosh to take the pressure off of him. He wasn't exactly healthy in 08 so his stats in the RS shouldn't really be used against him.

It took them 7 games to take 23 year old LeBron and a bag of garbage. Took them 7 to beat the Joe Johnson Hawks. Heat in 5 or 6.
2008 Celtics are the most overrated team at realgm.

LeBron's "bag of garbage" took turns outplaying him for all but two games.
Celtics with hobbled Pierce and Ray and no Bradley to put on Bron/Wade took the Bosh-less Heat to 7 also

The 2012 heat are among the worst champions in nba history. Never before has a team won a title without a defensive big man anchor until last year s heat. Their front court would be dominated by boston's. Bostin in 5 or 6.
