I've compiled extensive data on last 5 minutes, within 5 points since 96-97 (all available on NBA.com). For team and player performance. No one has to take this as the definition of "clutch," simply take it at face value, which is player/team performance in close late game situations.

Here's the top 10 performing teams since 1997, by net scoring margin per 100 possessions

Can you do the prime over multiple seasons combined for the star players. I want to see them compared.

The numbers will look funky though, as we see guys playing different roles in different years.

For Lebron, 06-13
Kobe: 01-10
Wade: 05-13
Melo: 05-13

Big men:
Dirk: 01-11
KG: 01-09
Duncan: 99-08

Thanks sideshowbob. Its interesting that LeBron leads in pts, assists, rebounds, steal, +/-, TS%. His eFG% is ridiculous too. The highest of the other guys is 47.1%. LeBron is at 52.4%.

For their time period.

But think about it, these two could be argued as the two best offensive forces (among a few others) in that time period. Is it really surprising that they are near the top as offensive guys in those situations?

I'm more shocked that people think the "top" guys will magically change so much when a certain time or point "mark" in the game comes.

Not exactly. That's just raw +/- per 48 minutes, there's no adjustment made for quality of teammates at all. Its true that James and Nowitzki are standouts, but its not that simple either.

why not use the NetRtg that NBA.com provides (differential between offensive rating and defensive rating) instead of basic +/-?
