How big would you say the gap is between Chris Bosh and PRIME Kevin Garnett?
For example if the Heat had Prime KG instead of Bosh how would it be different
Of if the 2008 Celtics had Current Bosh instead of KG
Or of the Timberwolves had Bosh all those year instead of KG/ If the Raptors had Prime KG instead of Bosh

Pretty big difference.
I thought Prime Gasol was a significantly better player then Prime Bosh and Prime KG is a good level or two above Prime Gasol.
So overall it is a pretty huge gap.
Prime KG was a bonafide Super-Star. His overall impact was immense.
Bosh was a great player but he is an All-Star and his overall impact isn't near KG's level.

As far as scoring it was probably more or less a wash but kg was better at rebounding, passing and far better at defense. If the heat had prime kg instead of bosh they would be looking at a 4th straight title right now. Hard to say what kg wouldev done with the raptors but bosh on the twolves may have never made playoffs even once and certainly wouldev never advanced. The gap is quite large overall.

I think you could argue that Bosh was as good on offense as KG, maybe even a tad better, but the defensive gap is pretty big.

It's substantial (though there's not a huge gap between them as scorers).

Not "offense", but "scoring", and even that's doubtful. Garnett is a much better passer/playmaker, especially in his younger days.

The defensive gap is ridiculously huge. If Miami had prime KG instead of Bosh.. oh boy. And Celtics don't win in 08 with Bosh.

Yep, and it's especially impressive considering that Bosh is a well above-average defender, not some liability like Amare.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying Bosh sucks on defense. He's great at covering the pick and roll, usually pretty good in providing help, contesting drivers. But KG is one of the all time great defenders and a few tiers above Bosh. Says a lot about KG.

Garnett was better at every facet of the game other than scoring. and drawing free throws. I know it's easy to downplay Chris Bosh, but he was actually a very good and efficient scorer. In his prime in Toronto he averaged about 23/10/2.5/1 on 50% from the field, while having TS of 58.2%. Garnett on the other hand in his prime years in Minnesota averaged about 22.5/12.5/5/1.5/1.5 on 49% shooting and having a TS of about 55.0%. Garnett was a far better basketball player no doubt and had a far better all around game, but Chris Bosh was a far more efficient scorer. Two great basketball players though.

Ups, I meant scoring. It favors Bosh though
Of course Garnett is much better as a passer.

You think so? KG was a great post scorer too. Bosh doesn't even post up

Even if I were to give Bosh the edge as a scorer (which I am not 100% certain is the right decision yet) KG has a mammoth level advantage as a rebounder, defender & passer.
So it still isn't very close.
We are talking one possible minor advantage to Bosh while KG has an enormous advantage in multiple other key areas.

Agree, and I don't think Bosh is a 'better" scorer. If anything they were a wash

Not saying Bosh>Garnett because it's actually Garnett>>>>>Bosh, but Bosh scored just as much but much more efficiently than Garnett.

While what you're saying is true Bosh doesn't have much of a track record to go on when looking at his playoff scoring ability as a #1.
He had one year at 17ppg on 48%TS which Garnett has obviously bettered and one year at 22ppg on 56%TS which is comparable or slightly worse then Garnett's best marks.
Obviously you an still argue that Bosh is the better scorer and perhaps the evidence does support that but I am not sure it is really clear cut if you give the playoffs a good deal of weight.

true, but I'd say KG is a more versatile scorer. Bosh doesn't even post up as a PF. KG was a great post player in his day, and was money with his jumper.

Never happen, prime KG never made less than $20 mill a year and he wouldn't have taken less to join up in Miami.....

First off, like everyone else KG >>>>>> Bosh
However, offensively, I think Bosh was just as versatile as KG was as a scorer. Bosh had a much better overall face up game than KG. While KG was a much better post player but Bosh did have a bit of a postup game. He had a nice turnaround jumper and a hook shot

Eh, Bosh was a primarily faceup slasher in the era where every drive is a foul shot. KG grew into a different game, and grew a more versatile skill set that made his offense much easier to build around and put into different situations and still find a lot of success. The younger, more face up version of KG would have been interesting to see if he came in post-2005 etc. Garnett was no doubt bigger, stronger, and more explosive.
