Hi all,

I have had some fun discussions with some Suns fans here about Bookers potential/value.

I want this poll to focus on his potential, then to a trade value poll. (I personally believe it is too early to say but Suns fans are saying these things)

Some have said his they would be SHOCKED if Booker does not have a better career than Reggie Miller, this blew me away, am I missing something or is the hype way too high? I would love to know because if he has a better career than Reggie we are talking best of the best @ SG - MJ, Kobe, D-Wade etc.

So fire away and give me some insight.

Feel like Star on a Contender should be higher than All Star. Regardless, I voted All Star.

I think he will become a very good player and I would be surprised if he didn't go to multiple all star games. That said, I would also be surprised if he ended up as a top 50 player of all time.
It would be great to watch him play next to a healthy Bledsoe and a NBA-worthy roster.

All-star sounds good. When asked about a players potential I usually look at what's likely, not what could be. 5 allstars, 3 3rd teams, 2 21+ scoring seasons would not be impossible although I wouldn't go as far as to say I would be shocked if he didn't hit those milestones. The guy is very young and he's doing things players in the late 20's still struggle with but for him to hit those milestones, he will not only have to continue to improve, he would also need to make some leaps too make some leaps too.

People who compare him to Klay Thompson shouldn't forget the defensive gap between the two players.

I know this is his rookie season, but his Per 100 stats and BPM numbers are really bad (especially on defense).

People also forget the kid only turned 19 not even 6 months ago and has one NBA season under his belt already. Klay came into the league at 21 with three full seasons in college to work on his fundamentals. There's bound to be some difference in defensive abilities. I also don't see anything wrong with his per 100 stats. His BPM isn't good but this is a young player who was suppose to be developing slowly and only see spot minutes but instead, he's not only been thrust into the starting lineup, he's also been asked to create for the team as well. It's a true baptism by fire.

Or the age for that matter.
Klay Thompson turned 22 during his rookie season, while Booker turned 19 during his rookie season.
You also realize Klay Thompson has a negative dBPM, right? He has never had a positive one. So if you are using this to judge Booker's defense, don't, unless you think Klay is a negative defender.
For the record, Klay has a -2.4 dBPM and Booker has a -2.6.

I voted multi-year all-star.

Thanks Chuck, appreciate it, still new to the boards (not to NBA, 30+ years watching, fav sport/pastime - by know means an expert)
So ill get the hang of where to post etc

Also unsure if I am coming across as too personal/blunt with my replies, I respect everyone's opinions, I am very opinionated and say what I think (a great trait in the right environment), if it too much, please let me know ans I will tone it down but healthy debate is great and as long as the participants can keep realities in check and respect others opinions all things should go smoothly.

Tyreke Evans was considerably older than Booker and showed obvious flaws as a shooter and in terms of bbiq.

Devin Booker is the 3rd youngest 30pt scorer in NBA history. (Lebron and Durant).

Booker is the 2nd youngest with a point/assist double double in NBA history (Lebron).
Booker did it twice once without turnovers.

Devin Booker has the 4th most 30 point games among teenagers in NBA history (Lebron, Melo, Durant). 2 more to catch Durant and Booker does not turn 20 until next seasons opener.

Booker has the 6th most points scored before age 20 ahead of Tmac and behind Lebron, Kobe, Melo, Durant and Howard.
Booker played 70 games as a teen so far, Lebron 108, Kobe 150, Dwight 100, Melo 82 and KD 80.



At the combine he posted the fastest shuttle sprint tome and the fastest lane agility time. His lane agility time was the third fastest recorded in the last decade.

He is also hardly scoring inefficiently. While his raw shooting numbers have dropped due to being the #1 option on offense plus running the offense and getting trapped and double teamed on most pick and rolls by now he is still shooting 43.1/35.1/84.1 which is more than fine for a 19yr old #1 option and better than Durants 43.0/28.8/87.3 as a rookie. Or for reference Russells 41.4/35.4/72.4 while not being the first option.
But of course for you it is easy to parrot what some people are saying who barely watch the Suns play.

Oh and Booker is among league leaders in drive efficiency (getting to the rim) as well as pick and roll efficiency. Last time I checked in January he was leading the NBA in PNR ahead of Steph Curry.

So yes a lot of what he has done puts him in absolute elite company.

Lance Stephenson/Shane Larkin = Elite company.

You may cherry pick all you like, I just have to cherry pick from your posts to make it easy.

And you keep bringing up 'youngest to do this and that'. while that's great and all, it does not mean much at all.It is just cherry picking because he is young. It is convenient without taking into account 99% of everything else.

Tyreke had a better rookie season than Booker, that is simple. He posted 20/5/5 only like 4-5 rookies have done that. Booker should be better than Tyreke as he fell of a cliff/plateaued after his rookie season but cherry pick as you like.

Lets end it, you rate Booker through the roof (not right or wrong, your opinion, I respect it) I rate him as a very very good young prospect with a high floor but top 10-15 player (top 20-25 SG of all time max) ceiling (not right or wrong, my opinion, maybe you can respect that)

I hope he continues to grow and I am proven wrong, I want all players to succeed in their profession and especially a young kid like Booker, who has shown maturity beyond his age and great character but I am still allowed my opinion without being inundated with cherry picked stats and ludicrous statements (will be shocked if he doesn't have a better career than Reggie, that is what started this debate and I feel you have not seen enough Reggie, maybe you are too young, or you grossly undersetimate his career and the era with GREAT guards/rules he played with/against/in)

Tyreke Evans had a lot of potential, you are asking about his POTENTIAL. Try to understand what potential means. Tyreke Evans did not fulfill his.
That has nothing to do with Bookers potential.

And there is nothing cherry picked, I presented you facts. Something you have failed to do anywhere.

I said it would not be a surprise if Booker ends up having a better career than Reggie Miller. Not that it would be a shock if he did not have a better career than Reggie Miller.

Also I can guarantee you that I am not too young and have seen almost all of Millers career.
