Take your pick
If ur option isnt there then just post who (tho i dont see how anyone i havent named has an argument unless theres some obscure 60s-70s player i forgot). I was gonna post an other section but didnt have enough poll options

This topic came up a while ago. From the numbers I remember it was either post 96 Jordan or Dirk. No one else was even in the ballpark.

Brandon Bass never seemed to miss from midrange when he played for the Celtics. The guy was automatic. I haven't seen anyone who was as good at that shot as Bass was that year.

Vernon Maxwell is not an option?

MJ or Dirk. In terms of true centers? Hakeem is worth an HM (maybe Ewing is as well?). For the final three years as a full-time guy for which we have data on stats.nba.com:
97: 248-572 in 78 games (.434 on 7.3 per game)
98: 120-294 in 47 games (.408 on 6.3 per game)
99: 144-320 in 50 games (.450 on 6.4 per game)
97-99: 512-1186 (.432 on 6.8 per game)
From
Dipper 13's stat-tracking (lots of playoff games included):
93-95: 297-674 in 58 games (.441 on 11.6 per game)

Yeah he has a very Cp3 like game but considering the amount of footage we have from that era i didnt feel comfortable including him (or Jerry)

Of the players we have numbers for, here's how they shot from 16-23 feet:
Dirk (2001-2011): 47%
Nash (2001-2010): 48%
Kobe (2001-2010): 41%
Paul (2008-2017): 46%
Curry and Durant also need to be mentioned.
Curry (2013-2017): 44%
Durant (2012-2017): 46%
Looking at them in the playoffs:
Dirk (2001-2011): 44%
Nash (2001-2010): 44%
Kobe (2001-2010): 40%
Paul (2008-2016): 42%
Curry (2013-2016): 46%
Durant (2012-2016): 51%
Honestly, since 2001, it might be Durant. Kind of weird that Kobe is included...he was really good as an overall offensive threat in the midrange, one of the best ever, but just as a shooter? Pretty obvious that he's not in that conversation.

Dont see how in any aspect he touches any of the guys in the poll. He was solid at converting them specially when open but he doesnt belong in the Goat convo

It was just a joke. Terrible shooter. Great defender though.

I have a hard time believing Bird wouldn't be among the best of all-time if we had the data for him.

Someone will compile this data someday.

Teams always gave him it open and he was known for being terrible. Maybe my memory is failing me but i thought he was solid when wide open

prolly not tho

The dirk gif you used is easily my favorite regular game winner of his. Just absurd angle to bank that in. And the MJ clip is from michael jordan to the max

saw that in imax when it came out... was pretty incredible HD footage for the time.

Voted dirk, but found my post on allan houston's midrange #s from a while back. He really was lethal:

In the last 25 years I would say its between Jordan and Dirk. Nobody else is nearly as efficient on such enormous volume.
viewtopic.php?f=64&t=14678081992 Jordan RS *53/80 Games
10 to <16 ft: 155/342 (45.3%, 6.5 FGA)
16 ft to <3-pt: 234/452 (51.8%, 8.5 FGA)
1992 Jordan PO 22 Games (Complete)

16 ft to <3-pt: 103/201 FG (51.2%, 9.1 FGA)
Combining the RS and playoff data, below is 75 game sample total from that season
10 to <16 ft: 219/497 FG (44.1%, 6.6 FGA)
16 ft to <3-pt: 337/653 FG (51.6%, 8.7 FGA)

My top 5 would be:
1. Dirk Nowitzki
2. Alex English
3. Michael Jordan
4. Larry Bird
5. Chris Paul
I don't include 50s-70s players because I don't have enough data to prove their greatness. I'm sure though that West is on par with any of these players, same with Robertson. Bob McAdoo is amazing and Jack Sikma deserves a mention. Sam Jones and Reggie Miller did less off the dribble but they are still among the best.
Maravich and Kobe have the abilities but their questionable shot selection make them out of the conversation.
