I'm not very high on Kyrie at all, so I think it's actually quite reasonable for them to improve if they move him. But not a good sign for them overall. Also paints Kyrie in an incredibly bad light imo.

If that happens, they hopefully get some good young assets back or at least some draft picks. They also get his contract off the books, then they would probably trade Kevin Love as well and get some young assets or picks for him as well. The toughest part for them would be unloading the JR Smith and TT contracts. But with Love, Kyrie then Lebron off the books next summer, that opens a ton of cap space for them to go with whatever assets they get back for Love and Kyrie.

It entirely depends on who they get. I'm not gonna name any specific players but there are a ton of trade possibilities that based on status/reputation of the players alone would get ripped apart by the media, forums, etc. but in reality might actually make the Cavs a more balanced & dangerous team.

They should still be favorites in the East just because of Lebron assuming they get a few decent players back in a trade.

Next year it's probably full rebuild mode. Lebron walks, trade Love for picks, it's 2010 all over again.

No, I don't think so. They'll always be great as long as Lebron is there + their problem last year was what a disaster they were defensively. There's a real possibility they can trade Kyrie for some pieces that will improve them defensively enough to make up for what they will lose when it comes to iso scoring.

It's possible they could get better seeing as he's a pretty overrated player by many in the league. He also has 2+1 years on his deal left at a pretty low amount.

Cleveland also probably will accept the best offer unlike Indiana and Chicago.

Depends, Kyrie was pretty awful when playing without lebron, if the Cavs dont get suckered into trading for more old vets, this can work.

Well the timing sucks. We could have had butler or Bledsoe and Paul George but Gilbert no no'd the trades.

Would have been way better and now he wants out anyway with no one left on the market....

They can probably get better. Too bad Irving decided to sabotage the franchise by not asking earlier.

We'll see what happens.

The good new? Kyrie was never a good fit. LeBron would be much better with some offball 3 & D guys, and in a vacuum, trading Kyrie for guys like that is totally doable. I'm just not sure what team is really in a position to make that deal though.

Bad news is obvious, but just a couple thoughts:

Before Kyrie's news, I thought LeBron would probably leave Cleveland after this upcoming season. I felt like management needed to impress LeBron to get him to stay, and ownership responded by letting their GM go and then paddling in circles. Had the Cavs not won the title LeBron might have felt compelled to stay, but I actually think he'd really enjoy leaving Gilbert to suffer again, and I can't help but agree Mr. Clown Sans deserves it.

I really think Kyrie may just be an idiot, and I think he might have just lost his ticket to the Hall. If the Cavs can find the right trading partner, Cleveland is going to have a better regular season than last year and Kyrie's going to be back in the lottery. If that happens, he'll be a joke.

In a vacuum I respect someone who wants to play the game his way, but Kyrie wanted out of Cleveland before LeBron came. All of this makes me think he's not nearly as good as he thinks he is, and he's about to get a wake up call.

I actually think Kyrie is a great "fit" with Lebron. Like really great.

But he also kind of sucks and is very one dimensional. Id love to trade him honestly but worries about what's left on the market...

Butler and bron or pg and bron? Man that defense...

Absolutely, my thinking is that Kyrie knows Lebron is gonna ditch the Cavs next year and he doesn't want to be stuck on the team with the worst management in the league. Cavs looked outclassed against the Warriors last year and if Kyrie leaves then they will look even worse making it easy for Lebron to ditch them as well.

Kyrie will be in HOF. He was the 2nd best player on a title team, and hit the shot that won it following a stretch of incredible performances. Has a lot of memorable performances in the Finals. He'll also be a perennial 25ppg+ guy and can even win a scoring title somewhere... he'll be in.

If I'm building around LeBron in an ideal world, I don't want a guy whose main attribute is his iso game. They made it work, but I think LeBron could work even better with other types of players.

I don't know what they'll do. First guy who comes to my mind - because the big names are a no-go, is Middleton. In theory it works because the Bucks aren't really using a point guard now, and Giannis to me really doesn't look like a serious half court floor general. But Giannis only took the next step when they handed him the offense, so I don't know if I'd want to throw Kyrie into that chemistry.

He is only 24 as well, there is no way he doesn't make it unless he has a career ending injury.

I think it's guaranteed. No matter what you think about Kyrie, the guy is a big time scorer. Has anyone with his scoring production ever not made HOF? As the #1 option on a team, he'll be a perennial contender for the scoring title.

If he can "gilbert arenas" his way to a few 27/4/6 seasons for a playoff team and he stays healthy I still think he makes the hall. Don't discount his great game 7 shot, reputation as the clutch guy for Cleveland when it mattered ( above LeBron " to a lot of people in the media, tnt, talk shows ), and also his exciting playstyle.
