Best 4th guy next to Heatles

Post#1 » by giordunk » Tue Aug 15, 2017 2:34 am

If the Heatles were a big 4, who would you choose to create the best big 4?

Choose a player from a Heatles season (2011 - 2014) or any player all time

Prime Billups was the first guy who came to mind.

Edit: is this supposed to be quasi realistic, or can we just pick ANYONE?

Melo. He's best buddies with Bron and Wade, and adding him to give the Heatles an outside scoring threat would be a huge upgrade.

If I can pick anyone I'd go with Curry b/c I think he'd be an incredible fit with Wade and LeBron:

Steph
Wade
LeBron
Bosh
filler

1-4 doesn't get much better than that from a talent or fit standpoint.

If I were to go with something more realistic I'd go with a George Hill type.

If picking all time, I think Curry would have been crazy filling the PG hole and having closing lineup of Curry/Wade/LeBron/Battier/Bosh.

For at the time, KD best player not in Heat during those years and would fit well. CP3 jumps out to me as part of the crew and again fills PG hole.

Does he have to be the 4th best player?

For players in that era - I like Heat playing smaller with Lebron/Bosh frontcourt so a SF is a good fit. Prime Iguodala would find a way to make high impact on D, passing and playing in transition like better version of his Warriors self.

There's only 1 ball guys, and between LeBron and Wade it's all used up.

Best guy is either an off the ball PG, where there is kind of a cap on how good they are, or that defensive roleplaying center they could never get their hands on. If we want them to be "4th best guy: then a George Hill type at PG, or prime Tyson Chandler in the middle who adds the constant alley oop threat.

Why Chandler when you can have 09 Dwight Howard?

You'd have to take a big. Everyone will rave about their small ball success, but that was merely out of necessity. It was never an ideal roster. Their lack of rebounding and interior defense was a major weakness that enabled lesser talented teams to push them to the limit exploiting their holes. We saw Roy freaking hibbert average 22 and 10 against them in a 7 game series. Let me repeat that again just so it sinks in... Roy Hibbert, 22 and 10... they were constantly outrebounded, completely impotent when it came to handling any semblance of a post scoring threat, and the trapping style they were forced to employ was extremely taxing. Even though they managed to field some decent defenses, there was always a ceiling to just how good they could be on that end...Give them a true interior presence and they could have been completely dominant defensively rather than merely good to solid with the wheels eventually falling off toward the end of the run

This.

Don't have to look too far. Just take the Heat big. Perfect fit.

Rudy Gobert seems like a good pick

I would have suggested the same, would be great defensively and is quite a good PnR partner for Lebron.
