I think all the switching the Rockets do makes Harden's relatively stout post defense more valuable than it was previously.

Surprise surprise. Analytics hasn't rendered ISO players extinct and high ISO scoring efficiency still, more often than not, coincides with the best offensive players and teams.

I think the rise of switching defenses and spread floors really made iso players more valuable again

I don't think their value has ever fluctuated much. People have just convinced themselves that you can "scheme" elite offense to the extent that you can do the same for elite defense built around secondary/auxiliary role-players. With random 3PT percentage variance and spacing, the consistency of a perimeter player who's able to create efficient offense 1-on-1 remains the most valuable type of player, especially in the playoffs where you're facing the best defenses night in and night out.

Analytics haven't killed ISO. Analytics have turned ISO players into 3pt/paint robots.

Instead of catching and isolating in the high post now you are isolating at 3pt with guys stunting.
East #1 Draft Picks: Fultz, Banchero, Wiggins, Cuninigham
West #1 Draft Picks: Edwards, WIlliamson, Ayton, Towns

Teams adjusting to defenses being able to zone up also probably has quite a bit to do with thid

Pretty pumped for this game tonight. Honestly feel more anticipation for it than any game this regular season to date. I’m finally starting to slowly creep into the camp that can somehow fathom even a slight possibility that a healthy golden state can be beaten, and that seems like a life raft to me that I want to grab onto desperately. Really want to see Houston hold that top seed

never seen a player so dominant like harden that he gets doubled and on rare occasions tripled as soon as he crosses half court. 1 on1 he will score or get to the line.. CRAZY.. AND THATS EVEN WITH CP3 on the court. cp3 is getting so many wide open shots this year because of the beard. cp3

2009 redraft im taking harden number 1 overall

Probably should leave this alone considering the thread it’s posted in but regardless of your feelings about both players currently it’s quite obvious that Steph Curry has had the better career to date.

I’m all for celebrating what Harden is doing and he’s the obvious MVP for me this year but he’s got quite a lot of catching up to do to be considered the best player in his draft class.

more career points than curry

more all-star selections than curry

more all-nba 1st team selections than curry

more mvp top 2 finishes than curry( counting this year)

more career win shares than curry

higher winshares per48 than curry

season assist leader

total points leader 3x

will be the first player to lead the league in 3's made and free-throws made in a season

curry is the more popular player thats why he was seclected as captain of the all-star team despite the rockets having the better record at the break, and also the reason he won the mvp in 2015. Harden is not popular because he doesnt boast, talk trash, or get into beef with the media. But he is very dominant

Had a great game in the loss (RIP streak). Joe Johnson is completely washed up though.

Phenomenal game by Harden.

CP3 is starting to worry me. His shot is off and his decision making is just abysmal. He has been putting his teammates in awful positions and passing up shots that he should be taking. Resembling Rondo at his worst at times.

Damn near perfect game for him. Even clamping up on defense. No one else besides Trevor got off the plane. Oh well

There's nothing to worry about IMO. He has a different style than Harden. CP3 will probe more where Harden you're more likely going to get a shot off a mismatch or a high leverage pass. Harden can penetrate easier. CP3 not going to score as much and his passes are more often gonna be "hockey assists" but his impact numbers are strong.

Harden's step back 3 was ridiculous last night. Will be big for playoffs.

Harden needs at least a championship to make it a conversation, as the popular opinion would certainly be Curry.

Also 2 MVPs for Curry, none yet for Harden, at least until June.

Harden is about 18 months younger, and so far has shown to be more durable than Curry.

His shooting has comedown to earth in the last couple of weeks. Only 26.9% 3P for the last 15 games. He's shooting exactly career average now this season. Will see if that's going to continue in the post season. It would make him much more predictable.

Still clearly the MVP of this RS.
