This season and next as a top 5-10 player would do it for me.

As the total package of offense+defense with the mentality to match through a players prime, Mike was definitely not passed by Bron for me (and that has very likely sailed). LeBron's sustained brilliance has been incredible though, and he could certainly end up having a strong case as the "career NBA GOAT" similar to Kareem (and likely above him).

But simply the GOAT player? I have not witnessed or seen extended film (for mid 80's and earlier) of a player above Jordan.

yep,top 5 for another 3 years including this one and he seals the deal for me

he doesn't need the GOAT longevity (kareem, duncan, malone) to surpass Jordan.
but if he keeps going for another 3-4 years at this level he certainly will have the GOAT extended prime.

He'd need a time machine or a fountain of youth.

Nothing, because in a vacuum at his peak he is the inferior player to Jordan at the very least, and several others too IMO.

He'd have to reach a new level and suddenly become a better player than Jordan.

I think he’ll be locked in at number 2.

He's already #2 for me, so not much. If he beats the Warriors this year, I think that would seal it for me.

4+ years of MVP caliber play + 2 Finals MVPs against Golden State

He does that, it's enough to pass MJ even though Peak vs. Peak might still be MJ for me

1. invent a time machine
2. go back in time
3. prevent the following players from being born : MJ/KAJ/Duncan/Magic/Bird/Shaq/Russel/Wilt/Kobe/Curry/KD
4. PROFIT??

Try to win a title without trying to stack the decks in his favor by going to teams that have elite talent.

Unless he magically gets even better, there is almost nothing he can do.

Lebron is in his 15th season, we've already seen him at his best, we should know by now whether he is the greatest or not. He is not.

To me he lost his chance in 11. There's nothing he could do at this point to surpass MJ. He is a lock as a top 3 player of all-time, but he won't pass MJ.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Unless he falls off the face of the earth, he's the GOAT. Getting any player from day one of their career, he provides the most value and chance of winning.

He's tied with Jordan in games already, and that's while counting Jordan's Wizard years. No miniscule edge in play (if there even is one) can overcome the longevity edge that James will have.

I don't understand your 3rd point. Are you really trying to insinuate all those players have better careers than LeBron?

Three years ago I would've thought it was impossible, but it seems that LeBron really did find the fountain of youth. He was significantly better in both 2016 and 2017 than any version of second three-peat Michael Jordan, and this year will probably follow the same trend once the postseason rolls around. As long as he stays at a top 5 level for another two or three seasons including this one, he's going to surpass Jordan in total career value. Like BasketballFan7 said, barring some sort of catastrophic injury, LeBron as GOAT is inevitable.

Keep performing at the high level he has been on since 2009, his peak is higher than MJ , but his prime is slightly less, he should surpass MJ in a few yrs
