How many seasons of Kyrie Irving would you take over current Victor Oladipo?

Including playoffs for Kyrie and/or not including them.

All of them except Rookie Kyrie.

No Irving seasons are better than current Oladipo. He is a way better player because of defense. He is also a passive player yet capable scorer who can flow well within the offense. Oladipo just does more things on the court.

Must be pretty low on current Dipo or very high on Kyrie.

2013-15, 2017 and 2018(injuries aside, his level of play offensively was better than Oladipo’s). Offensively, he has a decisive advantage over Oladipo — in terms of creating his shot more consistently, and easily, getting off a look against anyone/any defense, and he also has better range. A marginal-to-moderate advantage in passing the ball also. Now clearly Oladipo has a huge advantage defensively, but it doesn’t swing things in his favor here. Kyrie’s defense never hurt his team in the postseason.

Kyrie’s also “battle-tested”. We all know he brings it in big games, conference finals, NBA finals, with the game on the line and etc. The same can’t be said about Oladipo. He’s taken a huge step forward this year, but it doesn’t white-wash everything that he did up until this point either. He was bad at times last year, most notably in the playoffs so he’ll definitely need a strong performance in the playoffs to offset that.

I'm not sure I'd say Kyrie's defense "never hurt his teams" during the playoffs.

It certainly wasn't always good or even average. But as a whole it's kind of hard to rate exactly just given the circumstances of the matchups. He definitely could have been better though, and I think Dipo probably would have been on that end in those situations if that means anything.

Current Dipo is really good. He's not the scorer Kyrie is, but his defense at the wing legitimately moves the needle (he should end up on an all-d team). Plus, he's a good spot-up shooter, improved passer (i don't think anyone will sing Kyrie's praises on this) and a legitimate isolation threat.

Dipo and Kyrie have almost the exact same scoring PPP on isolations this year (1.035 vs 1.038). Granted, he picks his spots way more than Irving, but do people even know that Dipo is that good? Kyrie is admittedly much more dangerous running a PNR and a better offensive player in general. But we shouldn't underrate that Dipo is a legit two-way threat now.

Oladipo has had a better regular season than Kyrie has ever had in my opinion, however Kyrie has proven his skill level is highly valuable in playoff setting which is TBD for Oladipo

So Oladipo is better than Kyrie has ever been because on paper his stats are better this season?

Good grief lol

You know how people on here make fun of Boston fans for them saying the general board and other fans underrate their players and assets. Its threads like this that lead them to say stuff like that.

Bump

Victor Oladipo game 3: 5-15
Victor Oladipo game 4: 5-20
Victor Oladipo game 5: 2-15

Please...don’t compare this guy ever to Kyrie.

Still probably better than Westbrook in those 3 games in the playoffs :P

But anyways Kyrie wouldn’t put up those trash shooting numbers ever in 3 consecutive games what Oladipo is doing

Also wouldn't play defense.

Neither can Westbrook. See Rubio’s triple double

Just saying your initial comment had zero input. The world knows Kyrie is obviously injured so I just want to see if opinions changed. You can’t use Kyrie this year but you can look at his past to what Oladipo is doing right now in the playoffs. You don’t need to be an ass and say “Kyrie has been great the last 3 games” further derailing the topic. Pretty easy to clap back. All I can say is Kyrie wouldn’t be shooting those horrendous percentages that is hurting his team mightily in a winnable series like Oladipo.

I wouldn't use a 3 game sample to determine who's a better player. And Vic's also playing great defense. My initial comment didn't have no input as being available is a great ability.
