Should the Suns do this Jiminy Glick trade?

Okay so the Suns are drafting Ayton with the 1st pick probably. I think they need to trade Booker for Jaren Jackson Jr. because I think he will be a better fit on the team. Jaren Jackson Jr. is a 6' 11" freak athlete, can score, defend, and most important and this is the biggest giveaway that he will be good, passing. He can make plays. I think he can defend the 3, 4, and 5 easily and his athleticism reminds me of Garnett, his fluidity is great. I think Josh Jackson, Jaren Jackson Jr., and DeAndre Ayton can be a very good trio on that team.

So Booker or Jaren Jackson Jr. on the Suns?
Would the team that drafts Jackson Jr. do that trade?
You could potentially add more than Booker to the trade to make it happen.

I voted yes. PHX is truly handicapped by having a cheap owner; great franchise, fans, and history, but they’ll never amount to anything in this era unless they luck into having a young, developing core. May as well go for broke with length and athletic ability.

Devin Booker looks like Klay Thompson’s younger, malnourished brother; his game can be described that way as well. He’s not a can’t miss guy, and he probably has a giant ego after scoring 70 in a loss. Ship him out now while he still has value.

Exactly that is how you build a team, with athleticism, length, and defense. Just like Jordan's Bulls. Ayton can be similar to Jordan. Jaren Jackson Jr. can be similar to Pippen in terms of production. Josh Jackson can be a third wheel like Grant and Rodman but he is most similar to Pippen obviously.

No.

You need a shot creator. Booker has his flaws but he's a deadly scorer and shot creator. It's not easy to put up 25 PPG on solid efficiency as a 21 year old in the NBA. Having a guard-big dynamic as your core is much more preferable than only having frontcourt players.

I don't think Ayton-JJJ is a good fit either. They're both face up bigs with mediocre shot creation. And JJJ is an ideal center for today's game, you'd probably be underutilizing him by playing him at the four.

Naw, Devin Booker is a proven talent, he just needs a defensive-minded facilitator next to him and you'll see him take off.

Plus, like SlowPaced said, I'm not buying the Jackson Jr and Ayton fit. IF Phoenix trades Booker, I'd do it for Bridges or Doncic but not another big.

I wonder if they could maybe get Mohamed Bamba and DeAndre Ayton instead. That would be crazy. Slide Ayton to the power forward. Get some Duncan and Robinson action going.

I think it would be a huge mistake to trade Booker. This is a 21 year old SG that just averaged 24.9 on .561 TS, with 4.7 apg thrown in. He's made big strides in his career already and should continue to improve. If he can be coached into playing some defense, he could become the top SG in the league in a few years.

I would with a convincing plan on building around two bigs, but I would be surprised if the Suns are forward thinking at all.

That's an even worse fit than Ayton and Jackson Jr, and I might be the biggest Bamba fan on this board.

Why are you adamant on putting two bigs that don't fit together? They're much better off sticking with Devin Booker who'll provide ample spacing for Ayton to do his thing in the paint.

Ayton and Bamba can both shoot 3's. Anyways it worked pretty good for Duncan and Robinson and Ayton and Bamba have more range.

The perfect player next to Ayton would be Aaron Gordon. I would make that trade in a heart beat and you could probably squeeze a pick or 2 out of Orlando too.

Yeah they would be good together. Jaren Jackson Jr. though already has better range than Gordon did at his age though. Also seems to be a better shot blocker.

That's fine but what you want next to Ayton is athleticism and hustle

Jaren Jackson Jr. brings that. We will see though. It can be tough to speculate on some college talent.

He's not as physical or as quick as Gordon

I know, taller though and longer. I like him better than Bagley.

With Ayton you can sacrifice that. It's a hustle and energy like Gordon who will take pressure off.

Hell no. I would consider trading Josh Jackson/future unprotected first for a pick to land Bamba if we take Doncic at #1 though.

Yeah Gordon is a good player and he will only be 23 this year.

Bamba can't shoot 3s, he just attempts them like he can.
