2011 Mavs vs 2018 Cavs

Post#1 » by Mamba4Goat » Wed Jun 6, 2018 3:34 pm

Who would you take in a 7 game series? The championship Mavericks (with Dirk going God mode like he did and Butler being out) or the current day Cavaliers? And how many games would it go?
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Dirk didn't go god mode in those finals. In fact, Dwyane Wade played much better than Dirk in 2011, and LeBron currently is better than 2011 Wade comfortably.

I think the Cavaliers win this one.

That Mavs team had 8 different players average double digits during the POs though, compared to this Cavs team with only two (Warriors have four).

Obviously they'll have a chance with LeBron, but Dirk's supporting cast went off in 2011. I'll take the Mavs here.

Not only that, but as bad as LeBron choked, he was still an 18/8 guy who played well by not-ATG standards.

Yeah Love had a few good games now against the Warriors, but he is going to get eaten alive by Dirk and his production will drop. Who the hell else is going to rise with him to beat Dallas?

I’m taking them in 6 over the Cavs.

This cavs team isn't good. Aside from the lebron factor giving them a chance, I still see the mavs as clear favorites.

Mavs sweep. Cavs would be lucky just to lose by single digits

Mavs in 5 games.

The Lakers, Heat and OKC Thunder that the Mavs dominated were all superior to this Cavs team.

I wonder if the response to this thread would have been different if it was asked the day after G1 instead of the day of G3.

It would not have changed a bit. This thread is insulting to the 2011 NBA Champions.

The Mavs were deeper, bigger and just overall a better team.

OKC, Los Angeles and Miami in 2011 were all superior to the 2018 Cavs.
